This may not sound like much to you, but this is a big deal. The AFCK has been missing for at least 10 years. At the time I lost it, it was my only quality knife. I was going to be getting on a plane the next day and knew it could not come along, so I hid it ... somewhere.

Never could figure out where. And I moved to a new home 4 years ago and was sure it would turn up then. Nope. But last night, my son dropped by and pulled it out of his pocket. It was in a backpack full of gear that he hasn't looked at in a long time.

Now consider this. I don't think it is any accident that I just joined Blade Forums last week and then this knife turned up. There is some kind of powerful Juju going on with participating in the Forum and I am excited.
If this has happened already in the first week (and I have posted less than a dozen times), who knows what the future holds. I don't believe in coincidences.

And it is great to have this old classic in hand again.

Big Day Congrats indeed, and welcome btw. I just so happen to have gone with an old school ATS-34 Mini AFCK for my off-side carry today (I find it perfect for that pocket).

Congratulations!! That is amazing that you found it, after all this time!!

I'm sitting here thinking of about four that I've not seen in a long while. Anyway, congratulations on your find and welcome to BF

Finding a missing knife is more joyous than getting a new one! I recall losing my original Leatherman tool years ago. Must have tore up the house and cars looking for it ten times over the years. When we moved, I found the bugger in a basket in a cubby on the coffee table. Never could recall putting it there but I always assumed a hasty cleaning with company coming over got it there.

My Buck 110 that I've had since 2001 likes to go hiding... It's somewhere in this very room I believe.. cleaned it twice; but still can't find it. It will pop up again when it needs oiled or sharpened.

That thing is like an ex-wife to me; and I've never been married! Lol

I am happy for you. May I add that I know the feeling!

One of my very favorite Emersons is a waved CQC-8, particularly one of them I have with my birth year as the serial number. I carried that the most - albeit in rotation. The, it just turned up missing. i am careful about my gear, especially knives, most especially Emersons and very much most especially that Emerson, but gone it was.

Though i replaced it, I did miss that particular knife. Then, my son was helping me clean up some old clothes that were going to be wither cut up for rags or donated and there was my beloved CQC-8 in the right from pocket of a pair of work shorts that got torn and thrown in the pile. After thanking my son, I located the box for the CQC-8, put it in the box and right in the safe it went!

Nice one, I'm sure you've seen already but there are guys who have hoarded that model for fear of not having one to edc someday! Fellas have like three or four of them! Congrats on the good fortune!

Welcome! It's tradition here for new folks to send gifts of... you know... a monetary nature, to the local denizens of this forum, so as to keep the good "juju" going. I'll PM my address. ;) :D

Just kidding - welcome to the forum, and I know the feeling of finding something lost for a while. For me, it was an old U.S. Schrade 77OT that was missing for two or three years. It turned up one day tucked between the bed frame and box spring in our room. I'd have never found it if I hadn't pulled the frame apart to work on it.

That old AFCK will have a life-ling meaning for you now.

Congrats! So, after finding out it was in that backpack did you say "Oh yeah, now I remember!" or is it still a complete surprise? I ask this as a guy whose memory is not what it used to be...

Congratulations, Tom!!

That is pretty ironic, and par for the course!

You will find a lot of information and people who know a LOT about knives here.

best
