I received this in yesterday's mail. A nice 3 1/2" Jack put together by our very own Esnyx (Evan). It came with a nice note of thanks for keeping an eye on the Traditional Forum.

A great little knife, Evan! It'll find its way into my pocket for sure. Thanks so much for your generosity and support. It means a lot to me to be part of this great little corner of the world.

It's been fun watching your progress. You've got a lot of talent and I wish you the best in your venture.

Evan gave me this pretty little 3 1/4" Ulster stockman that he re-built. Beautiful covers, everything just right. Lovely job on the pins. The heads are curved, exactly matching the curve of the cover material. Has a pen blade, spey, and clip, which is a configuration I've never tried. It's been in my pocket since yesterday.

Evan gave each of us a knife of the style we are most likely to carry, a single blade for Gary and a stockman for me. The thought he put into each gift was not lost on us. Likewise the note he sent each of us.

Thanks, Evan!

That Evan is a pretty nice guy!

Great looking knives!

Splendid knives! Kudos for your thoughtfulness and generosity, Evan!:thumbup:
Thanks for sharing the story, Frank & Gary! I get a real lift from seeing one or more interactions like this almost every day here.

(Thanks also for your outstanding and consistent moderator work, guys! I don't think you'd want me to send you any knives I made for you, though. :(:o:()

Thank you guys for all your hard work in keeping us hooligans in line! You guys deserve much more!

I just realized that I left out all of the details of the knives in your notes!

Gary, yours has stabilized spalted sycamore scales. The original knife has a pen behind the main, but I decided to remove it to make it a single blade, which I feel was more to your tastes. I reground the blade, to remove all of the pitting, and chips in the edge. The linkers and bolsters are original to the knife, and it previously had black delrin scales.

Frank, yours also had black delrin scales on it, and I kept the original liners and bolsters. I also reground the blades on yours, and added the cut swedge to the main clip blade. This knife was tricky, but fun, because it had a swindon key construction, that I managed to replicate. I love working on old stockmans that have the swindon key, its is always a fun challenge! the scales on yours are jatoba, aka Brazilian cherry.

I'm really glad you both like them, and I appreciate the kind words, but it is both of YOU who deserve the praise for your thankless work here! It wouldn't be the same without either of you, and your kindness and expertise has definitely influenced me in my short time in the traditional knife world. This was just a small way for me to pay you back for your support! You guys don't get the credit you deserve for your efforts! I say BRAVO to you, gentleman! Keep being the watchtower that guiding us safely to the dock! Encore!!!

Thanks for the details, Evan. I was wondering what kind of wood it was. I've never seen anything quite like it and this is coming from someone whose father imported exotic woods for a living. So warm and so nicely patterned.

Evan is mastering his craft very quickly indeed, what a fantastic way to say thank you to the Mods too. Evan is a terrific bloke :)

Well said Evan. Gary and Frank; here's a metaphorical hat-tip to you both! :D

Nice going, Evan. It is easy to forget how much we depend on our mods to keep this site pleasant and Troll-free!!
Hear, hear!

I was wondering what wood you used, Evan. The spalted sycamore makes some nice covers. Thanks for the other details and again for the knife.
Thanks for the comments, guys.

Nice work and nice deeds Evan !!:)

Great looking knives Frank and Gary.:)
