I wish I had a sword in my hand now. A big Zarker . . . a big two-hander with sheepskin on the handle. If I had a sword like that, I’d die happy and go straight to heaven.
quote from the book And Another Thing by Eoin Colfer (in memory of Douglas Adams).

What would my father say ? That little buck was the knife he carried for the last twenty years of his life. I bought him a nice mid size Swiss Army like the Tinker or some such for Christmas one year right after I got my first real job in high school. He returned it to the sporting goods store and got the Buck instead.

My mother would say " Is all THAT really necessary ?"

I use it. I like it. It doesn't feel weird or too heavy in my pocket.

I took the pocket clip off (see the Hold Out III pocket clip trilogy) and . . .
ha, ha
it sits upright in my pocket with the top end just exactly where it would be if it were clipped to my pocket.
One diff. if I'm sitting on the ground when I put my boots on it can slip out but other than that . . .

He was a wise man and would say nothing - he knew which knife he wanted and most likely more important, he knew which tool would do the job he was about to do.

Just like his son feels, that the 'Hold Out' meets his needs.

BTW Not a bad looking knife. Very clean. Best of luck using it - itll no doubt do the job.

I carry a pocket sword on occasion.

Yes there is something about the Hold Out . . . it makes sense to me. I carry the III a whole lot.
It's weird before I ever got the HO I, while I was waiting for it to come in the mail, when I thought about it I could totally feel it in my hand . . . what it was going to feel like. I had never even held a HO II let along a I. I had my III but it is tiny in comparison.

Good for him. I have given knives to people a few times and they always kept them at the bottom of their sock drawers because they were too polite to return or exchange them, but hated them too much to carry and use them. This is the worst case scenario. And the reason why I give people gift cards instead.

I guess I have a different perspective than those people . . . I would wager that about any knife you would give as a gift would be seriously worth having and using . . .

Variety is part of it all for me. Oh well.

Yah I'm getting to that point.

I liike the looks of the HO series, folding sgian dhu pattern.
I like the ti-lite better, got the zytel 4" and 6".

But I've been carrying a SAK lately, Victorinox Ranger. An old favorite, and just picked up a backup.
Got to go with what works for you, until a new season or project changes your needs again.

I also prefer pocket swords...

Charlie Mike,

Yours is certainly a much more effective version of double fisted than my version.
Thanks for the vid.
Say hi to Doc Bob and reassure him I was totally kidding about the CATapult.
