A Bit Chilly In The Gorges Today...

After tearing a gash in my left knee, and bruising it pretty badly, slipping on icy rocks while out working the other day...today was mostly a "recon" trip. It was so cold in the shade that it made my bare hands ache after a while, but there was some nice scenery.

Thanks Josiah! I took a couple of nice chunks out of the left knee, but it's feeling some better today...just throws off my sure-footedness a bit :)

That is amazingly beautiful!! I am really missing the snow and ice. I hope your knee heals quickly. Thanks for sharing the great shots!

As always beautiful pics my friend; hope the knee heals up quick; we need to get you some yaktrax or crampons for your next trip to the gorge!

Those Monarchs seem very photogenic.

You should know, I think you may have the nicest one I have seen so far :)

Gorgeous shots as always mist. Great looking knife and locale as well!

Thanks man. One thing for sure, it's seldom boring around here :)

Thanks, I like the icicles, they are a lot more dynamic than just the lifeless deciduous trees :) The knee is going slower than I'd like. It was a pretty hard lick. The ice gave on some rocks I was on and they moved. I had about $1,800 in camera equipment in one hand and a very sharp hand made knife in the other...and I just instinctively held them both up and out and took the hit on my knees, side, and elbow. It seemed like a long limp back, but I was glad I wasn't all that far from the truck that time :)

Thanks for sharing the pics!

Thanks man, glad you liked the post!

Thanks Will. Yeah, those crampons look like a good idea!

This one, I don't envy not being there as much-Burrr:). Those are some beautiful shots.

Thanks you. Eh, it wasn't so bad out in the sunshine, but in the shadows of the gorges it was pretty nippy.

:thumbup::thumbup:

Thanks man :)

My wife has mentioned those before. Sometimes I am ten or fifteen miles from civilization or even more and on foot...and I am not as young anymore lol

Great pics Brian! I hope the knee heals quickly. Hey look at the bright side ... you could still be up with us in Michigan!:D

Thanks Dave! Yeah, I'll probably be missing Michigan when summer gets here :)

Beautiful shots, Mist … hope you mend quickly … I definitely understand the instinct to hold on to the gear and take the hit. Not always the smarter move, but it's kinda like you just can't … let … go … and then it's done … "The fault is not in our stars, but in ourselves, that we are underlings … "

On another (less Shakespearean) note, is that Indigo burlap the true color of that knife? That color is gorgeous!

Thanks again for sharing …

Beautiful scenery and great pics, Brian! Let that knee heal up brother.

Thanks Kris! It's some better now, not limping as bad today :)

Thanks, your posts brings up an interesting irony. The knife handle is crimson micarta, but all of the phone pics have not shown the color properly. The day I was hurt was the first sunny day we had in a bit, and I was out with this knife and a real camera trying to accurately capture the color... I have yet to succeed in that, but I will the next sunny day we have :)

Great shots Mist. The frozen world bring much beauty and danger. Heal up quick.

Glad the injury didn't keep you from getting out because those pictures are just stunning.
