A bit of a thank you.

Still here & thanks for inquiring! The ear doctor has had me on a steroid treatment which I gather is pretty standard for the sudden loss of hearing. It finishes up in about 3 more days then I can get checked out for improvement and also get back on some meds I had to discontinue because of the steroids.
I still can't hear but the strange thing is I 'hear' music playing in my head all day long until I go to sleep. Funny thing is... I grew up with Rock & Roll but this music seems to be all piano instrumentals... really quite soothing in a weird way! Have to talk to the doctor & find out if this music is caused by the deafness or side effect of the medications. Some of the 'tunes' that are playing in my head: 'The Weight' (from Easy Rider), 'El Condor Pasa' (Simon & Garfunkel?), 'Born Free', 'God Bless America', and even 'Silent Night'!

I'm hoping to stop in & see Harry this coming Sunday at the PetSmart and make my donation of some dog supplies. That rascal better remember me or no treats for him! :D Who am I kidding... I'll spoil him with hugs and give him the whole bag of treats... the big mutt!

I hope this "temporary" problem resolves itself soon, I know what some of it is like. People sometimes don't understand when you have to say "what" all the time.
I'm sure the Dr's will iron it out soon, and I if the one you're seeing doesn't get it diagnosed in short order by all means quickly seek others advice until you find one that does.

Cheers & Heads Up

I hope this problem gets resolved soon!! Then you can get Harry back!!! I am still praying for you!

Hope all goes well Gary, what you are experiencing with the symphony in your ears might be some form of Tinnitus, but I thought you had to have at least some hearing for that to occur.

Gary, how are you doing? Please let us know when you can. You are still in my prayers.

Dude, sorry about the hearin' hope it gets better or at the very least you find the cause.

Keep the faith and remember so long as ya can see and type, we'll keep ya entertained.

I'll send some smoke skyward for you and yours.

I exchanged emailsl with Gary. Gary, I hope it is ok to post an update for you....

Anyway - nothing has changed, he still can't hear and it still is very unpleasant. He hopes that hearing aids might help but the doctors are waiting to see if the condition has "stabilized" before going that route.

I just talked to him via PM as well. You are still in my heart and prayers!!

It's been a while but here's the latest. I received my 2 hearing aids in June but the ear pieces just hurt like the dickens! Half the time I would only wear one of them at a time. They help a bit but it all depends on the person and room acoustics. Last week the audiologist had some work done to one of the ear pieces and it fits a lot better. I pick up the other adjusted ear piece today. My hearing is completely 'shot' and will never return but with the hearing aids in at least I can 'hear' on a one-to-one basis (with a little guess work and watching lips). Still can't make out what is being said on TV (thank God for closed captioning) or the phone but I'll work out something.
Harry is still looking to be adopted but is enjoying the company of Michaele while he waits. My neighbor asked if I was ever going to get another dog to which I answered... "Maybe in the future but not just yet." Two days later Casper dropped out of nowhere and has been my steady companion ever since. While Harry was hard for me to handle at 50 lbs... Casper weighs in at a hefty 12 lbs. I was told he is a West Highland terrier but I have my doubts... I think he is Clyde reincarnated in a smaller body... :D

Let me out!
