I need a little help on the purpose of refractory mortar. Does it amplify heat, or does it just more evenly distribute heat? I want to know this because I'm thinking of making a kiln from a steel drum, kaowool, a propane torch, some metal tubing, and, of course, refractory mortar. Any help is appreciated!

From the Moderator:

I will have to be more direct since simple advise isn't getting through.

30 posts and ten different thread in three days is a bit excessive...especially since you are bouncing all over the place.

Please have one of your parents post their consent on you being a member and a verification of your age.

Consider this a first warning. If we don't hear from a parent, you will be banned.

I am temporarily locking the threads you have currently going, and will re-open them as soon as there is some contact from a parent.

ConneA98, your passion and excitement is encouraging to see. I'm glad you are going to work on searching out the information on your own. An important part of this art is being internally driven. A big part of that is taking responsibility for your own acquisition of knowledge. There is a TON of freely given advice, tips, and information on this and other forums for you to digest. Please don't become discouraged because of Stacy's response. He is simply pushing you onto a much better path. Learn what you can, then come and ask questions. You will be warmly received that way. Read, search, think, and then ask. Best of luck to you, and hope to continue seeing you around!
