Recently my young fella turned 14. Whilst I got him a (non knife related) present for him on the day (kids and their video games!) I also decided that being 14 now, a young man, he deserves a gift befitting a young man. So I got him a BK11. He has a job as farm hand at a dairy/soy farm (weird combo
) so I thought a handy little tool would be.. um.. handy.

That's an ESEE pouch I modified lightly to fit the stock sheath.

The TDI pocket clip.

It doesn't really show up very well but in the above pic you may notice that I covered the top of the tin with 1200grit paper as a hone to keep his blade a-hair poppin'. Stuck it down with industrial strength double sided tape.

I made the tin as a small first aid kit instead of the typical fire kit. There's Band Aids, anti-bac cream, burn gel, alco swabs and splinter probes.

You can just see the side of the lower eyelets in the ESEE pouch in this shot. Unfortunately they didn't line up with the sheath so I used my soldering iron to melt some holes to match up to the holes at the bottom of the sheath. Took about as long as the soldering iron takes to heat up.
And now for the piéce de rèsistance.. the TommytheWho scales. They're made from Ipe. They feel amazing in the hand. Simply beautiful..

This is the kit on my belt.

And, my favorite way of carrying it, clipped into the fob pocket of my jeans.

I've EDC'd this for several days like this (fob pocket) and let me say, it is so comfortable. Doesn't poke anywhere it shouldn't even when sitting. So much so that I went to the shops one afternoon and forgot to take it off. I got half way up the escalators at the mall and realised I still had it on. I very quickly and thoroughly crapped myself envisaging a heavily armed SWAT Team descending on my position (this isn't entirely exaggerating either) so I covered it with my shirt, ran the wrong way down the escalator and put in the car. Just for the folks that don't know, I live in Aus where's it's HIGHLY ILLEGAL to have any sort of blade on you in public. Phew. Disaster averted.
I absolutely love this little set up and am going to make one for myself with a BK24 and Tommy scales and a fire kit in the tin. I may utilize a TekLok so I can carry it scout method though, to be honest, the clip almost seems more versatile (clips on to a belt and into pockets).
I would like to say thank you to Tom for these beautiful handles. They are truly magnificent. Mate you WILL be getting more of my money soon!
Thanks for looking folks. Hope you like it as I hope my young bloke does too.. All the best wonderful people..
Springy..
