The forge was hot, I had an end of a bar of steel and an impulse to create something fun and useful. I could have forged out a small knife but the shape of the piece of steel lended itself to this little ulu shape. This could be used in the kitchen or in the shop. it is very sharp so care in using it will take some close attention until a person gets used to the shape.

52100 high carbon steel
Heat treated to Rc 58-60
Convex grind with hammered texture on the flats
The cutting edge is about 4 inches and the height to the top of the handle is avout 3 1/2 inches
No scabbard

sold delivered within this US Please message me for shipping and payment options

Unique and a very pleasing shape! Could you post a pic showing how you hold it?

Thats sweet. I like tools that are not over done. Im always irked in the world of making things. If everything is not finished to the highest degree people will pick at how it could be better. Then when you spend 30 hours on making it perfect, everyone will complain about the price being too high.

Index and middle finger in the loop. Ulu are quite common knives, just not where knives are commonly on the internet. I have a big one in my kitchen sold to cut pizzas. It cuts everything else really fast too.

This is the way I hold it.

Nice work! The underappreciated underutilized Ulu. Ive skinned with them and you cant find a better chopper for quick work on veggies. Once you get the rocking motion down they are hard to beat. I also use the pinch method like a chefs knife.

Sorry to gum up your thread. Thats just awesome. Wish i needed one

Please make more of these!
A terrible picture in this bright sunlight but I have this one at $50 delivered. Let me know if you would like more info and better photos.
