A bloody meeting!

Very nice GEC. Too bad it had to bite you. It happens to the best of us.

I don't know, maybe a #89 Gambler, it seems quite nice!

I don't have one myself, the blades are a little longer than I like to carry (legality issues in the UK) but I've always thought they look splendid. I love the long almost cylindrical barrel shape, extremely elegant.

Make sure you post pictures if you get one, they're a pattern you seldom see around the forum. :)

Very nice looking knife. It looks like you really got a nice piece of bocote. I have suffered the alligator snap cut before. I love a strong spring. Oil it up, and open it a lot. It will soften up with time.

I also love a strong pull with no half stop. That kick with a hard pull makes for a bit more chance of a nip here or there.

Yes, the bocote is very nice ! It's a wood I had often seen on bows, and it's just as beautiful on knives. Now I just have to make that Viper a nice lanyard (bocote beads and a piece of turquoise with leather probably). Let's hope it will distract it from my fingers...

Ouch, sorry for your thumb!

Sure! :)
We also have legality issues in France, but that gambler would be something to have for meals (meat meals!) at home. I don't know if I would dare take a knife of mine at a restaurant... The vast majority of French knife collectors I know don't hesitate to do so, especially when the knives are really bad ones, but still... I'll try one day ^^
But yes it looks very elegant, a kind of traditional version of a gentleman folder. I still hesitate on the blade... Spear or clip point ?

Well, at least I can say there was no misleading advertising! Paid for a Viper, and truly received one :D

Welcome, the only GECs that have not bitten me at one time or another were the Northwoods. GECs bite! It's just what they usually do.

It's a right of passage..being bitten by your knife.
Congrats on the great looking Viper BTW.

Welcome aboard. I just had stitches removed from my thumb recently from a bout with my Queen Gunstock. Gotta watch those half stops!

Welcome, Mescladis.
The Viper that bit you is not the only knife that wants your blood. I find it helpful to treat pocket knives as if they were small squirmy snakes that want to get away, when opening or closing them. I'm lucky, in that I've never gotten a bad cut from a pocket knife (plenty of little love bites, though), but kitchen knives have left scars I still carry, to remind me of my inattentions.
Be forewarned that the more time you spend researching knives (especially here, in this forum), the more knives you'll probably want to own. The trick is to invest yourself with prudence and wisdom, so that you might withstand the sirens' song, from time to time.

Thanks for the advice deskil!
Even more than prudence and wisdom, my good friend Nomoney is here to remind me that, even if there are a few knives I'd love to get, well... I can't! ;)
