As a very nice early birthday present for me, my girlfriend decided to talk to Brian Goode (blgoode on the forums) about making me a custom leather sheath for the fixed blade that he made me two years ago. In just over one week, he had already finished the thing! Below are some really horrible scans. Hopefully I can take some better shots with a digital camera, but I wasn't having much luck with getting all of my scanner settings right. It's really beautiful! Great finish on the thing, and it's a really secure fit. It wears so much nicer than the kydex did- you can't even tell I'm wearing it when slip the bottom into my pocket. He also did a nice little inscription!

Have a look at the sheath and knife!

The knife is 0-1, olive green micarta scales, and it's selectively tempered. I believe that I had read that the samples he had tested for hardness all did very well- 58's and up. He even polished up the loveless pins and stropped the edge for me (it's very sharp right now! )

very nice combo. what kind of steel does he use? dimensions, price, availability, etc?

Pricing varies based on size, materials etc. He gave me a really good break on mine because he took pity on me and because he was still pretty new to this stuff when I ordered mine. Contact him about what you want to see the prices, but he's pretty swamped right now- a year to 16 months- he's getting very popular! This is only a part time hobby that he's obviously excelling at, but he has a full-time job so he can't take on too many jobs at once. Prices are very reasonable, though, communication is great, and the knives are just....solid! My best advice if you can't/won't wait that long is to see what he has for used knives or maybe slightly defective ones, but no promises.

Nice sheath and knife ! :)
Brian does outstanding work , both knife and sheath are top of the line and reasonably priced.

I can only speak from experience from the knife he made for me and I have nothing but good to say about Goode ! :D

One advantage of a knife from Brian is that he's got a little bit of an anal retentive/perfectionist streak in him, so we all benefit! Everything is symmetrical, well-polished, and neat.

BTW, I love your new avatar, rebeltf!

Thank you Sir ! I call it my "Early November wolf" since tonight is a full moon and I've been known to lurk on nights like this , out in the bush with my de-animating tools. :p Although I changed it earlier , I had the psycho "3rd reich" werewolf from An American Werewolf in London , is that the one you meant ?

Not to take your thread OT.
Brian does hamon like Maiden does metal , top notch. When I show off my knives to my buddies his is the one they always oooo and ahhhh over (and try to buy from me , to no avail!) :D

So Needle , how old are ya gonna be mate ?

Nice. Looks "old school".

I had a sheath like that and felt if gave the knife a lot of security from loss/falling/dropping out.

The only thing that I didn't like was that it left only a few inches of handle to pull the knife out of, and boy did it have tenacious hold in that sheath, but mine had a tight fit. Maybe yours don't fit so tightly.:thumbdn:

Otherwise, very nice.

The big 1-8. I'm over the hill :D

ER dept-

There are only a couple of inches of exposed handle, but it wouldn't be as secure without the leather coming up that high, and I didn't care for strap fastening (buttons and so on). Not too tight, either. One of my favorite parts about leather is how easy resheathing is- The mouth of the sheath is bigger, and the edge and tip don't catch on the sides like they do with kydex, they just slip on past.
