A bronze tribute to the mountain woodsman...

This guy lives in my neighborhood.
Various community or business folks donate him A new shirt & pants every few years...

Definitely not a bronze statue but a tribute none the less.

Kenton Station is a good place to grab a drink.

Hi! Thank-you all for interesting contributions, really interesting  and also entertaining (Log’s Driver Waltz :) was funny )!

I am pleased that this village respects and preserves the tradition of the woodcutter. I imagine te village statue you pictured is in Italy; can you identify the place and tell us when he statue was made?

Yes! That statue is in the village of Andalo (Trentino Region – Italy). It’s rather recent, dating back 2014. The artist is Francesco Maria Capotosti, the technique is investment casting (lost-wax casting). :)

It's quite an impressive statue - the form and implied motion is really excellent. Thanks for sharing the photo of it!

Ah ! Cera perduta ,that Italians were making for hundreds of years ! Cellini was Europe's expert years ago. But recently we helped them make a casting of a horse .Made here in Beacon NY and shipped to Milano !! Nice work !!

Forgot to add that in the Piazza Cavalli in Piacenza there are two horses which they hid during the war !! Oh the riders on the horses are Farnese father and son !

Fitting for Oregon.

Your cherry blossom trees are about a week ahead of ours.
Off the topic of axes, but on the topic of cherry blossom season, I heard that the Japanese take it seriously enough to track the blossoming as it moves northward throughout the country, and it's reported on their daily TV news with forecasts.

wish i had a statue like this. somehow the pulpwood cutters of the south have been buried. you wouldnt even know there was a logging industry here unless you went looking
