This Memorial day holiday like many folks I was thinking about the sacrifice so many Veterans have made..Then I had the thought that many of us (I'm a 100% SC disabled USN veteran) would love to buy a Buck that commemorates our service..Bucks Scouting knives is one example I'm thinking about..and I wanted to ask ya'll here if it would be something that you would want too.
Buck could ask for a copy of our ID or maybe a DD214 or if that's not practical just make it a regular LE . I would think many people who served would buy one even if it just had a lazer etched handle or pad print blade. A gold etch blade with a Army, Navy, Marine corps, Airforce or Coast Guard symbol could be a option too. It doesn't have to be a expensive high end knife but I would certainly spend a hundred or more if that was what Buck made. What are your thoughts about this?

First off, Thank You for your service.
(I tried to join up, but was given an unwanted, permanent medical discharge before I got out of the reception center, for Basic.
I arrived on a Friday Eve, they "gave us the weekend off". At 06:00 Monday, Drill Sgt. Hitchcock informed me that I was on sick call. I was ordered to report to the Orthopedic Specialist. :(
That Captain took 18 x-rays, looked at 4 of them, and declared "Boy, You is goin' home!!" :(
I wanted 30 years; it took them 12 days to process me out. :(
I have M.H.E., a hereditary bone disorder.)

I think it would be a good idea for Buck to do this.

Whether they will or not ... I have no idea.

Thank you for your service

I think the Buck Alumni would be perfect for this, they could easily Lazer engrave the backside and it's an affordable knife.
My dad would totally love a US Army Alumni.
I think two of my USAF cousins would be in as well.

Don't know about such knives...but do know about many "commemorative" handguns such as the Colt 1911 series...
There are quite a few that "emblazon" specific battles (primarily in WWII), and "generics" such as Vietnam or USMC or US Army. I've given at least one of these to my older son, produced as a 1911 Officers Model, chambered in .45ACP, of course. These handguns usually have fancy gold inlaid scenes or lasered script and are quite beautiful. Prices are about $700-$1000 although I haven't checked in a few yrs.

I like the May BOTM...I don't want some run of the mill "commemorative" for my service nor for yours. They have the Talon only available to active duty?? Why can't it be any Veteran that served Honorably in any service?? Active duty can't carry that anyway, it's not "GI"...

I have seen both US ARMY and US NAVY Buck 110 in the past - may have been done aftermarket. OH

I think Buck made those 110's...Maybe an MWG, with maybe special grips that's for all services, not individual ones, we're on the same side...The Navy was made to give the Marines a ride to the fighting anyway...Ha!Ha! Just Joking...USMC 79-83...

Bucksway, Thank You for your service, you sacrificed a lot for our freedom. I'm 10% SCD...I can't imagine 100%...Thank You, Sir...

Maybe a emblem similar to the Boone and Crockett 110 came with? Small set in the handles? The new 110 LT or even better the 112 LT set for release this summer would be a good candidate. I bet lots of collectors would buy them all as a nice subset . Buck would definitely sell a bunch no matter what model was chosen. But even a Bantam or the new Alumni would work for me. But my first choice is a Elk or Stag 110/112 gold etched blade with the emblem of service..

There are several varieties of this 110. One has white corian handles with the service branch on the handle while another has the service branch etched on the blade. If one googles "us (the name of the military branch - army, air force, navy) buck 110", you will see numerous examples of each. I can't figure out how to copy a picture and then post it on the forum, so perhaps someone with better computer skills that I have can figure that out and post some photos. Thanks

Bantam?? No Chinese knife to salute our service men and women...Why different services? There was no Air Force in WWII it was all part of the Army...Like I said we're all on the same side and we all fight or fought in the same wars...I like the 110 idea with a small emblem. Maybe Iwa Jima flag raising since all members of the service was involved in that.No etching on the blade but maybe a BOS s30v or similar. Stag handles would be great or Ironwood, burl walnut something special. I'd go for that. Don't make it a collectible, let it become a collectible.

I know the Bantam is US made, it just reminds me of a Chinese knife.

I got thinking about the medallion, what about a scene depicting the "Tomb of the Unknown Soldier", that would cover all and be unique also...

That's the one we gave our bandmates for Christmas last year. I think if Buck want's to make a knife honoring Veterans it will be a good one. Being modelled after the Scout knives Buck makes might work well.

The Alumni with the Iwo Jima flag raising would definitely be a cool one.
My dad got a green dog tag with the Iwo Jima flag raising Lazer etched on it at the state fair , and it looks real good.
In genral lazer etching on an anodized aluminum looks good and is durable as well, my choice was a martian which I wore every day for years till putting it on my keys and it has held up just fine.

How about a Ranger 112? It was actually designed with military in mind. I should have American S30V or S90V steel, NS bolsters, and special scales.

(I am a disabled Vet so I support this notion)

Actually, the Bantam may be the best for the job. What knife shows better that America will compete with the low cost Far East workforce. It's not a sexy knife. It's a grunt knife.

I see Buck as still representing what America used to be.

I had one of those American flag Bantams, for about a day...I need to get another.
