A bushcraft knife idea I had

I'm guessing that would vary knife to knife.Although 3/4" would be good.

This is a slightly up scaled model of the counter sunk divot.

I think it could be done. I would insert a 3/4 round piece of copper into the handle, probably on both sides, and then mill out the desired divot in the copper after it was in the handle. Now we just need to locate a 3/4 round rod of copper.

Probably going to throw a spanner in the works here but how many people carry a small tin (think shoe polish or tobacco) in the woods for tinder? I was thinking you could simply glue a copper divot piece to the tin and that way keep the divot with your fire kit. For me a small tin like that fits better in the palm of my hand for this type of task and it would mean I wouldn't have to alter my knife.

Just trying to come at this sideways to see what other options there are.

I like this idea; simpler to pull off, and potentially safer to use.

use a solid slab of copper in the middle of the scales. (both sides), and micarta on each end , like a multi material handle scale. Might polish up nicely
