A Busse Combat WSK

I just finished watching The Hunted again and the film made me think of the Dave Beck WSK.

I think that a Busse WSK would be incredible. I started this thread to try and gather information on how you would design it.

I was thinking about a WSK built on a HOG FSH platform (8 inch blade). The blade would be 5/16s and the tang (the part enclosed by the scales) would be around 3/16s. This would focus the weight forward for more leverage and would also cut down on the weight. I was thinking about Fusion handles. I would also like the idea of having somewhat of a sub-hilt worked into the design in order to get rid of the choil as this takes up quite alot of blade length. I would keep the quatre round and the saw back as these are important features of the blade.

Would you give it a butt grind?
Would you use smooth micarta to give it a more refined look?
Is the Busse shop capable of making saw teeth?

So, what do you think? :D

I think the WSK is rediculous knife. "Jack of all trades, master of none." Give me a HOGFBM and a Badger Attack, and I'll be good to go.

I would agree but their is something about the WSK that I like. I don't know what it is.

Eddie, did you get the money?

I probably wouldn't carry a WSK, but I wouldn't argue with a guy that could articulate why he carries one. It makes some sense, in a peculiar sort of way. I'd love to see Jerry's version, but that would be one prohibitively expensive custom! A Megalodon/WSK, perhaps?

I am going to try and work out a design for this model out of plexi-glass or something. Once I get a concrete design worked out, I am going to email Jerry and get some real information.

This has also been on my mind ever since I found out about the Tracker design. I'd love to see WSK made of INFI with flat ground blade & G10 slabs, it would be awesome. I had the TOPS version and traded it. The saw teeth sucked rocks. I was hoping to order the original but I found out Mr. Beck quit knifemaking.

The TOPS version is crap. Try Rodger Linger for one. Best available since Jerry has not put his hand to one yet, and IMHO equal to Mr. Beck's. I agree about the design being highly unorthodox, but an Infi one would rock. :D

I'd like to hear someone articulate why he carries one. He would have to be one articulate mofo to convince me. The design just doesn't 'grab' me in any way shape or form.

The Behemoth was designed as a 'mountain man' knife and doesn't try and do all the WSK does.... I think. There are no saw teeth. LOL

It was designed to chop (big sweet spot), skin (shape of front edge, hump on spine to break bones), draw knive (slight recurve). BTW, the micarta grips are smooth.

Sounds like a plan!!

I hope the new crowd doesn't get freaked out with a few blades. LOL Not like showing someone how to dis/re assemble a 1911 on the bar.

After hours and with the doors locked of course. LOL I won't even mention the AK show and tell.

BTW, our OT is picking up, but after the 1st I'll have a good idea of what's happening and can plan from there.

1 or 3 cold ones sounds good to me!
