I ran into this guy that owned a brick and mortar knife store and unfortunately went out of business. I met with him yesterday and bought some things from him including this display case with 7 new Case knives in it and also received the knife boxes as well. I usually stay away from limited additions, collector series and such but this one just caught my eye and I thought the price was fair. The handles on these knives are Corelon and I have no experience with it at all. I have read about the Case Frost connection but would like to no how durable and desirable it is. Also you will see a picture of a new SAK I bought from him. This is for a giveaway to say thank you for the info, patience, respect and kindness I have found here on the porch. Not only to me but toward many others. This Traditional Forum is made up of some truly exceptional folks. I hid this GAW in this post to give a better chance to those that hang out here and not someone just looking for a freebie. The rules are simple Must have at least 25 post her in the Traditional Forum Simply post I'm in and something about Case Knives it can be as simple as I like or dislike them. Good luck I will post a winner selected by a random number generator Fri. Oct. 2 at noon EST. And thanks again for allowing me to hang out here.

THIS GAW IS FOR THE SAK ONLY!!!! SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION.

Is that the right picture? None of those knives look like Corelon. They look like jigged Chestnut bone. Pretty recent manufacture as well, since that Sowbelly was only recently added to the Chestnut Bone CV family.

(Not an entry, I have enough knives already!)

They do look like bone the pictures but up close you can tell they are Jigged synthetic and the boxes say they are Corelon.

I'm in.

Nice giveaway Redden!

Growing up I had a Wenger SAK knife and a Case stockman that I had been given. Felt pretty lucky to have those. I spent the majority of my time whittling and carving with that Case on my front porch or in the woods hanging out. Case takes me back to my childhood/youth that's probably why I tend to gravitate towards them more than any others.

I'm betting the boxes don't match the knives, then. That's jigged bone. Corelon looks like acrylic or kirinite. It's smooth and has multiple colors swirled around in it.

I know what Case's jigged Delrin looks like and that ain't it.

Take a look at the tang stamps and see what they say. I'm betting that Sowbelly says TB6339 CV.

Great looking group of knives, though. :)

What is the first number in the pattern number on each of the knives? I believe 6 is for bone or imitation bone. Not sure about Corolon but I think it's designated by a 9.

I'm in and thanks for the chance!

That is exactly what it says I am not that knowledgeable yet on knives but I do think $150 was a great deal.

Yup, that would indeed be a great deal.

Edit: I like Case knives and I'm in.

I'm in.
Thanks for the chance. That collection is impressive.
I have known about Case for a long time but only recently started buying them. Inherited a small stockman that I just cleaned up last week. Picked up a SBJ, which is such a great cutter. And last week I bought a single bladed trapper from a collector looking to liquidate. Anyway, here they are.

Great looking case of cases! I only own two at the moment but have owned several in the past. And will certainly own more in the future. (Good Lord willing). Not an entry. But it's cool to have people like you here. That's why I like it here. Good Folks. ( I just read that you paid 150. Awesome Deal.)

Not an entry, but these are definitely the Chestnut Jigged Bone Series. They all are CV steel.
The boxes should have this "CHSNT" on the end label. You did extremely well on the price!

Just to clarify, since the original post isn't especially clear - the GAW is only for that Vic Camper, right? (still not an entry)

And yeah, $150 is a steal for that deal. The Sowbelly plus the Trapperlock alone would cost about that if not a little more, so you basically got the rest of the knives plus the case for free.

r redden, it is a heck-of-a-place here on the forum isn't it?! I have made more friends, and learned more here...

Good for you to do a GAW, and if you decide they are worth more than you were told, I'd understand if you just kept those beauties. So, I'm in if you're in, and best of luck to all.

Congrats on your case of Cases, r redden! Sounds to me like you got an incredible deal!:thumbup:
I only have 3 case knives, but all are probably in my "top ten favorites" of the 100 or so knives I have. Two of them are chestnut bone CV: a swayback jack and a Sodbuster Jr:

I'm interested in adding a sowbelly stockman and a peanut to my chestnut bone family, so I definitely recognized the knives in your case! :p My "market research" indicates that the sowbelly alone sells for about a third of what you paid for your entire deal!:cool:

Thanks also for the GAW! Not an entry, since I have a Vic Camper (that I picked up primarily for its superb saw); whoever wins your GAW is going to really enjoy that knife, I think. Good luck everyone! :D

I'm in that definitely looks like jigged chestnut bone!

Here's some jigged synthetic action

In any case that's a heck of a collection and display!

Case makes some great stuff. I have a few myself. Great find there, sometimes I'll find a deal too good to turn down at an antique shop. It is a great community here for sure. The knowledge and humbleness is amazing. Some members here have cutlery making down to a fine art or science. It is great to meet those that will take the time out of their day to sit down and share their information with the rest of us. There is surely a wealth of knowledge and kindness here on this site. I'm in.

In for the chance! Thanks for the generous offer. As for case, I have never owned one? I would like to sometime, but money has been tied up in other projects. I do like the design, though.

Very nice way to jump-start a Case collection - I agree that what you have is jigged bone handles (I have my share, but virtually none match). I'm not in on your fine GAW as I already have nearly the same model SAK (from my Army days - it was my EDC in the 1980's and early 1990's - good knife). OH

Great score on the Case knives

Not an entry please, but thanks, and good luck everyone
