A Chakma Alternative?

Ceramic rods are wonderful for touchups. The people we bought our dome from left one behind, and I've used it for four years now, even though I dropped it and it no longer has a handle. I like that antler idea though. Looks great, Howard.

<sigh> where do i find this crap.

Jake

well I thought it was funny.

Thanks Jake.

Remember I have a hiding spot not far from the house, nice old quarry, my house is less than two miles away. You can sneak out, read the forums, check your mail, and still be able to sneak back under the cover of night if you change your mind about the inpending doom... I'll even provide food and water for the first week or so. After that you might be able to cross back to Indiana, I also have access to a small boat if you need help with the infiltration...

We need a emoticon that is a sigh, something like a smiley that deflates...

Howard, do you still carry the vaseline soaked cotton balls in a plastic baggie in your wallet just in case? Or was that you I'm thinking of?

I'm sure I know someone who did that?
It looks like the vaseline would deteriorate the baggie over time and then ruin the inside of your wallet but what do I know?

Excellent job on the sharpener! :D

Believe me, Yvsa, I got some funny looks from my folks the first time I made these fire starters. They wondered just what the heck I was doing with vaseline and cotton balls. Needless to say, I had some explaining to do!

:D :D :p :D :D

You can use them to start fires!?

How cool!

one of the really thin ones. I think it's about 1" x 4" x 1/8". Fine grit. Works well and doesn't take off too much metal. Comes in a leather slip case. My idea of "in the field" is yardwork so I don't worry about losing it.

Thanks for the laugh, Jake. Where DO you find this stuff?
