Put all the necessities for a survival scenario into an altoids tin? Fire, water, signal, shelter, food. Can it be done? I am interested to see who has the smallest kit. I am debating starting up a passaround for it when I return from Kenya. Anybody wanna show the true minimalist kits?

I think I could describe the contents, I have all the stuff, just missing the tin actually.
Buck hartsook
Firesteel
Survival whistle (the flat orange one, pretty small) and small signal mirror (it's the size of a quarter)
A few feet of fishing line, several hooks.
A guitar string, 2nd smallest wound up for a snare.
A survival blanket, if the whole thing won't fit as much as will fit. Can be used to collect rainwater and for shelter.
If I can I would wrap some paracord around the outside, if not I guess I carry more fishing line and practice making cordage.

Put all the necessities for a survival scenario into an altoids tin? Maybe. Why the altoids tin? To boil water in? I assume it would be frustrating boiling water in an altoids tin and then waiting for it to cool before drinking your 2oz of water. I don't have a picture of my kit; maybe later. I use leather work gloves. Left and Right Gloves. The Left glove only holds a folded garbage bag and maybe something else that's small. So really the Right glove is important as it holds my Ritter Survival Kit that I modified. I took out some items (matches and other stuff:confused:) and added a mini bic, and a small knife by Kutmaster that is the same size as a small SAK, but has far more tools. A great design I have never seen anything like it and don't know where to get another. I could get by with just the Right glove with the small kit inside. One glove is better then none and really cuts down on bulk and weight. It fits beside my flashlight in my cargo pocket.

Great idea with the gloves!
I think the altoids tin is because it's small enough for your pants pocket to have on you anywhere. I think I prefer the round tins Doc used though, i do have a few of those.
