A change in homestead equipment

Hi guys, sorry about taking so long to get back with you! I had to pull a horrible 13 hr shift at work. First things first, Geraldo please don't feel you have to apologize! I thought this was just a very interesting discussion. You in no way offended me. Bill, sorry about the bad vibes in the cantina. I was just shooting the breeze, didn't mean to open up a whole can of worms!
Will, don't worry, I'm not militant, and I only own one set of camo uniforms - and it has holes in it! And if I had a Bradley I wouldn't use it- they get terrible gas mileage and tear up your lawn when you pivot!
But seriously, guys, I'm just into this for some fun and khukuri talk!
About sci-fi, have any of you read Cemetary World by Clifford D. Simak? It's a great read. I also really love anything by Robert E. Howard, esp. Conan.

Just trying to be polite, Con. It's hard to tell the tone of electronic conversation, isn't it?

The discussion on the HI forums is great

Uncle Bill could post a checklist to see if you fit in:

1. Do you like sharp implements?
2. Do you like khukuris more than other sharp implements?
3. Like guns?
4. Good whiskey? Good beer? Assorted other refreshing alcoholic beverages? Cigars?

As an essay question, describe what Roger's EKK photos did for you.

1. Do you like sharp implements?

Yes alongs as they are not hurting me.

2. Do you like khukuris more than other sharp implements?

Yes, they are more useful.

3. Like guns?

Yes

4. Good whiskey? Good beer? Assorted other refreshing alcoholic beverages? Cigars?

Yes I like them. However, I gave up drinking back in 90 or 91 so that I can afford more of 1, 2, and 3. I miss the taste of beer so much I can drink the non-alcoholic stuff. Never took up smoking.

Roger,

First the EKK and now the interesting animation on your posts! Add that to the name dropping SCI-FI, and would you please stop showing off

I too have been known to read a lot of Heinlein and Pournelle and Niven, though I got into Howard Feist (a San Diego native) for a good long while.

A little bit of Scotch or Ouzo, with a fine pipeful of Latakia...and a rippin' good blade in my hand!!

Yup, yup ,yup, & yup, hope that's enough yups.

I like 'em all. Had some probs with the booze when I was younger, but don't know any of my people that didn't at some point. I guess I had enough German, Irish and Scot for it not to affect me to seriously, but tobacco is a Whole Nother World!!!
One thing y'all forgot was Faaast Cars.
smile.gif
Still like them too!!!

Rog, amost forgot about your posting about Everett with my go around with this WebTV thing.
You ever hear that song,
"I've Been Everywhere Man?"
Well, I could have almost wrote it.
My old man was an outlaw and between keeping one step ahead of the law and jealous husbands we moved a LOT!!!
I was in 24 states by the time I was 13 and lived in most of them. The worst school year ever was the one I was in 7 schools in 7 states from
Palm Bay Florida when it was just a wide spot in the road to right outside Minneapolis/St.Paul in Hopkins. Mom rightly enrolled me so I could pass even though there was only 5 days of school left.
I had friends all over Turtle Island (still do although different than chidhood friends) and I often wonder about many of them, whether they made it through Korea & Nam okay and the like.
I have tried to find a few of them over the internet, but no success as of yet.
And not only did we live in Everett, but over the years we lived in Vancouver, Seattle, Spokane, Yakima, Pullman, Diamond (near Colfax), Keenewick/Pasco and in Oregon, Portland, Bend, Eugene, up near The Dalls and some others I was to young to remember.

My old man didn't like ndn although he was 1/4 or more so we didn't go to any tribal things.
However I did play and eat with ndn kids and if the old man found out he would beat my arse. I did it anyway and never have stopped

The animations....oh yeah, I "analyzed" Rusty's posts and figured out how he does it.

Now I'll probably get obnoxious with it.

Yvsa, sounds like it must feel real good to have grown some roots in OK after all that jumping around.

:
Rog my roots were always in Oklahoma, actually Indian Territory.
My paternal grandmother never said she was from OK and would always correct with the fact that she was born in I.T.
Oklahoma became a state in 1907 and my mom was born 2 years after in 1909. I have a pic with her and my grandparents when she was 3 months old. Grandma & grandpa were on a Skiatook OK frieght wagon with a mule team. There were phones then the number was 84.

I remember when there was no dial on the phone -- you picked it up and told the operator the number you wanted.

I bet there are people on this forum who don't remember phones with dials, let alone phones without dials.

Actually, I remember both, since I wasn't born in the US of A, and I spent a lot of time following my Daddy when he was in the Navy.

I even remember Party Lines!

I remember dial phones and party lines. We were on a line with my grandmother and aunt. What I can't remember is what you had to dial first to get someone on your party line. Anybody's memory more intact than mine?

Actually, Cougar, you picked up the phone, turned the crack and then the operator would come on and say, "number, please?" and you'd tell her 15 or 105 or whatever it might be and she would patch you through the switchboard to the number you wanted -- unless it was 3AM and then she'd usually give you the wrong number.

Conajohara,

You had mentioned using full auto is more effective with Miles equipment. I am curious how much dispersion have from your firearm when it is equiped with Miles equipment. Also, do you have to hit the sensor squarely to register a kill. Does it differentiate between non lethal and lethal hits?
