something from my forge that wasnt a knife. I forged these out for my wife for christmas, figured ya'll would enjoy seeing them.

They were alot of fun to make, and almost got busted a few times while I was making them. how do you hide something that is still really hot, fast when your wife comes home from work early?:o

Thats a great present, I need to learn how to forge so I can make something similar for my wife, she would love something like that.

here is the link to the video that showed me how to do them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Py9XEBT9No&feature=player_embedded

I dont know how long it took me, I know they got alot faster as I went, but it was a squeeze in a bit here and there type of thing. the hardest thing was that the petals cooled off really fast while forging them. so it was either reheat alot or just forge them at a black heat.

she loved them, which I was glad for as I wasnt sure that it was appropriate to give your wife black roses!

one time I "hid" them in my scrap pile here in the shop, and just laid a piece of scrap on top, and another, I had just enough time to cool them in the slack tank before dropping it into the water and by luck she didnt look inside the tank, but it had been about a week since I changed it out so she probably wouldnt have seen anything through the muck anyways.

i ended up just buying the 16 guage sheet metal at home depot and 1/4" rod there also

Thats some cool stuff Joe, must be fun forging something different once in a while and not worrying about how straight it is.
