A comparison

Steven,

There was only one Bob Loveless... His as-near-as-can-be perfect designs
are and will always be inspirational for many knife makers worldwide.

Some of these will take Bob's design concepts and add their interpretation.
Not all will be great knives and may be liked by one and hated by quite
a few others...

Saying that, I did not get the feeling that Ron was thinking of a
"Loveless Design" knife. Maybe he went with his feelings for the NYS design
that has now become a knife with certain "classic proportions".
He took it all to another level and came up with an extraordinary knife,
much (I have to admit) being due to his truly amazing Damascus...

There are knifemakers like Edmund Davidson who received
knife templates from Bob loveless himself and then made it a point
to clearly etch "Loveless Design" on the blade of their knife.

Edmund also mentions this on some of his Integrals that are obviously
just inspired by Loveless designed knives...

I think this is a good and correct habit, more that just a tribute.....

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Edmund Davidson asked me to post his response to Ron Newton's knife
posted on this thread:

"Hello All.
After reading the thread and looking at the knives, I as a knifemaker must applaud Ron Newton
on his most Excellent Execution of what appears to be a Flawless Creation.
Knife makers tend to take a design that jumps out at them, carefully study that design and then
create a knife around that idea.
Ron's Knife is beautiful on many levels no matter where the base design came from.
For me the best feature is the handle inlay into the steel and how the lines flow from the Two.

Congratulations Ron!
Edmund Davidson"
