A compilation of questions. + a challenge i was offered.

Question, are you able to carry a new blade for one year, with another folder that you already own?

A nice leatherman will take care of all your work and home cutting needs, and I've actually carried mine for 9 months straight everyday (Sidekick).

i actually carry a leathermen wingman frequently and if i dont its in the car, so yea i can it isnt a knife its a tool.

If you're allowed to carry the leatherman, and a new knife for the next year: Manix 2, comes in at 5 ounces, love mine

I would go for the pm2. I have a sage 2 and I wouldn't want to use it for zip ties. A gayle bradley would be good too. It's more than enough knife for a lot of things and I carry mine everyday. It kicked the sage 2 and zt0350 out of my pocket. I pair it with a gec #85, vic tourist or queen mini trapper

I would go with the GB. I think it can fill various roles [dress knife, work horse, EDC, and pocket weight] since you will carry it for a whole year. :D

This sounds like a fun challenge. I would have to accept it too! Thats a hard one as to which to pick. Seems like you are stuck on a spyderco. So in keeping with your theme, maybe the spydey G.B. Air, Navaja C.F., G.B. C.F., techno, or the one I have been dying to try the vallotton sub-hilt. As you can kinda tell from those if I had to pick only one for a year it would have to be something that is cool a little different and keeps my attention for the whole year. Good luck and I will be interested to see what you pick! Just think about that $400 or so you will get at the end of it for whatever you want!

1. From your list, Sage 1, but personally, I prefer the Caly 3.
And of the knives listed, the military tops.

2. Don't own one...but it's a ZT and beast of a knife- yea,
it's worth it.

As for the challenge, good luck with that. I'd say pick a knife
that you already use and are comfortable with, ie. I could see
myself carrying only my caly 3 for a year, it's going to be tough
as heck after the second week, but it does all that I need it to
as an edc blade. So, just look at your present knife collection
and ask yourself which one do you carry and use the most. A
new, untested knife will come with too many uncertainties.

I don't understand the part about choosing a knife based on whether or not it "won't scare people to the cops?"

There are many people who would be scared by the fact that you are carrying ANY knife, even a Swiss Army Knife. I would hate to limit my knife choices based on what people might get scared by.

And as long as the knife you are carrying is legal, and as long as you're not behaving irresponsibly with it, then I don't see why you would be worried about the cops. It's always important to know your local knife laws and your RIGHTS.

Oh, and if your girlfriend thinks you spend too much on knives here's a challenge for her- Can she wear only ONE pair of shoes for an entire year and not buy any more? Or how about carrying only one purse?

If it's YOUR money that you're spending on YOUR interest (knives), then I don't see why your girlfriend should have anything to say about it. After all, you're not married yet.

Boom.
