a complete turnaround on my Spyderco Stretch II

I recently ordered a Spyderco Stretch II on eBay. It arrived quickly and I handled it for a bit, checked out the edge with a few very minor cutting tasks, and promptly decided I did not like it. It was scary sharp. It shaved almost like a razor. Very smooth opening, and everything was perfect in fit and finish. Still, something about the design just irked me. I have never been a huge fan of the really large humped Spydies. The Stretch is more of a medium hump i suppose. I could not put my finger on it. It just felt wrong. I packed it back up and contacted the seller with the info that i was going to return it for refund. They said it was no problem, and that was that...for about a day and a half. The package sat on my shelf waiting for transit during the weekend and it kept calling out to me to look at it again. I resisted for awhile, because i did not want to have to repack it again. Eventually, i gave in and broke the knife back out and played around with it again. Then the most bizarre thing happened. I realized very clearly that i absolutely loved the way it felt in my hand. It is much larger than it might seem from pictures, and from the dimensions listed in its description(at least to my warped mind). It fills the hand and is so smooth in its shape and feel. No sharp edges to make it uncomfortable in any way. The carbon fiber is rough and grippy while still looking sleeker than g-10. There was no way i could let this knife go. Now it just couldn't feel more right! I quickly changed my mind and decided to keep it. I am still growing more and more fond of it. Problem is, now i have to sell my Alias so that i can afford to keep it.

Now you need to get a Superhawk to really feel what supreme ergonomics are! Well, at least for me the Superhawk is the best feeling knife I've ever had in my hand. The Strectch 2 is a VERY nice knife in my favorite folder steel, but since I have been buying so many knives lately I think I will wait for the FRN Stretch 2 with the ZDP blade instead of being able to get the CF Stretch 2 like you got. My wallet just can't afford another big hit right now, though the Spyderco catalog keeps screaming at me to deplete my savings account.

Congrats on the new knife, I'm sure it will give you many years of cutting enjoyment.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will have to check out the super hawk. Also, do you know if there are any Spyderco FRN handled knives with liners? I apologize if that is a dumb question. I have a fairly arbitrary fondness for liners in my folding knives. I know heft does not really equal quality, but i like how it feels in my hand better.
