First, let me begin by saying, I hate flea markets and garage sales. But there was one thing I found that was well worth the aggravation, a Dremel shoeshine machine. It's not real powerful, as you can imagine, but it seems to work real good with wax and polish. That might sound stupid, is sure beats doing it by hand. I never had much luck on a bench grinder and I can use it it the house.
 
Mine has lasted over 25 yrs. Still use it once a week or so. I love the power button on the stalk!
 
I don't have the deluxe stand up model, just the one with a button on the side of the motor. If I had that one, I might be tempted to use it as some type of transportation.
 
Also works great to buff up my strops after conditioning them.

There. Now it's a knife-sharpening related post :)
