A Cool Update on the Buck 110

I saw that already on the Spyderco Forum. The knife looks very nice, but doesn' t really have much in common with the classic Buck 110 in my opinion. I' ll see if I' ll buy it.

Good steel, functional design....don't care for the skull or the $240 price tag. If I were to have that much and wanted something like a 110, I'd probably head over to Buck's Custom Shop

Nice spot though...

 Other than having a blade and handle...... What does it have in common with a Buck 110? I may be missing something but I can't see anything of the Buck 110 in the knife........

One of those Pakistani knock-offs they sell at flea markets has more in common with a Buck 110 than that does. It's an interesting concept, and it's nice to see a clip blade on a pocket clip knife, but saying it is a 110 derivative is a bit much.

Oh, I don't know... How about the overall shape and the lines of the knife? How about the blade shape, shape of the scales, shape of the bolsters, etc. Missing the homage to the genre examplified by the 110 is near impossible.

I've been looking at the knife since I first heard about it. Supposedly a non-Harley version will be offerred. I can waite till then, since I loathe Harley Davidson.

Well, it looks like an update to the 110, as the OP says. Overall shape looks quite similar. But with many modern appointments.

I wonder why Buck doesn't offer this?

I think it looks excellant. Looks like a "modern" update of the 110 to me. As for being overpriced like most HD products? Don't know about that one. Its like if you want the best you have to pay for the best. keepem sharp

Not bad, aside from being grossly overpriced. But what's up with the 'fashion' skull?

Does Harley Davidson think motorcyclists have some sort of macabre death fetish?

I agree, too many skulls showing up in inappropriate places these days. Death's-head as a fashion statement.

The knife itself looks good, a high-tech homage to the 110, same basic handle shape, which as good as it is, isn't all that common. Adding one-hand opening and a pocket clip is great. I could do without the axis, but I know that's widely popular.

What is the real price? Saying the MSRP is high is meaningless.

Have you visited a Harley Davidson dealer? If the msrp is "high", the asking price will likely be "higher." :D

HD dealer as in their real product? This is a knife, just licensing the name. We know how that goes, S&W, Remington -- some good, some bad, mostly cheap. If mongomondo's price is retail, that's in line with axis locks generally.

Yes, I understand. Assuming that the knife will be for sale at Harley dealers, I was making a joke regarding their practice of marking up motorcycles ~way~ above msrp.

That could be a $300 knife at a H-D dealer, plus pay a $200 "assembly" and "delivery" charge. ;)

I can believe it. Not a Harley, but the last time my daughter went looking for a car, she had to walk out of one place, she was laughing so hard at his earnest bullshit.

I have a 110 and the blade shape, scales and handle are not even close so I still don't get the comparison but everyone has an opinion and they certainly are seldom the same....

Boy, Buck is finally into the 21st Century! I hope that design finds its way into the standard Buck line. I also wish they would start getting away from the 420HC steel blades a little. I see some of their specialty knives that are beautiful, expensive and still have the same ol' 420HC blades. If they have an S30V production line, they should be popping some of those blades into their upper tier line.

I don't care for the skull, either. All a jury needs to see is a skull on your knife and you're a goner. But being a HD knife, I suspect it's intended for the outlaw biking crowd.

Since this isn't a Buck product, and Benchmade doesn't allow anyone else to use its axis lock, I doubt Buck is interested.
