Joss,I couldnt agree more.I am still using my old first bought digital camera. One of these days I will get a decent camera and a light box set up.At the present time funds are still bad low.But some day I will get to feeling better and get the stuff I need or be able to afford to have them done by a pro.....
Bruce, email me or call me anytime you want to improve on your own. The amount of quality info for good knife photography that is on this site is almost as prevalent as the good information for making knives. You just need to DO IT!
By all means your knive's apparent quality seems up to the job....
Coop,I have tried all the light boxes and tricks around the forums.Even tried some ideas of my own over the years. This old camera just doesnt have any settings or zoom.It is like using a disposable camera to take pics with.I have full plans to get a new camera when I can.Since I got sick finances havent been to good and I cannot afford to have pics taken for me.When I get a new camera I will be bugging you
Bruce when you have a spare $150 let me know, and I will suggest a used camera that will knock your photos out of the ballpark. You don't need more.
Sony DSC-S75 or DSC-S70 3.3mp. They are all over ebay for less than this. Superior Zeiss lens, and enough power for the web. Killer macro clarity. Has all you need.
Coop,If I sell these knives I will look into that. Can I trust cameras off ebay? Gotta spend the first 150 bucks to get my truck running.Told you guys I am busted Thanks to everyone who has been helping Donna and myself out through the auctions and donations I am getting shop supplies up,but money doesnt go far......
Oh yea, just in case anyone is wondering,My knives are priced allot lower than you would think....
Iff my eyes would ever straighten up I could do better with the pics, just cant focus well somedays.
Sorry to sidetrack your thread, Bruce. I am really willing to help you and Art. So here I show:
I used this camera, with this setup, to produce this photo. I could easily do it for an even larger blade, and if I used two of these lamps so much the better.
I used a tripod. I used the macro setting and left white balance at daylight. Cost of the light tent and diffuser: $20, cost of the lamp @ WalMart $13.00. Cost of the camera: $175 on eBay with extra stuff (two years ago).
If you need, let's take this thread back over to the 'No Frills' thread for even more...
