I was commisioned by a fellow forum member, who is a black powder shooter, to make these for him.
First is a small curly maple patch knife with an antiqued 1080 blade, 5 1/2"OAL. Pins are nickle silver, rawhide bolster wrap, deerskin dangler with a curly maple bead, finished in Tru Oil.
Sheath is rawhide over veg-tan, and is neck carry only per customer request.

Next is a sheath for a factory bowie. Rawhide over veg-tan, deerskin fringe, center band and crossdraw belt loop are inlaid with prarie rattlesnake skin.
Brass tacks and spots, tin cones, horsehair, snake vertabrae, trade beads, and a stag concho round it out.

Very, very nice work John

You have that period look perfected, in the knife and the sheaths.

Beautiful !

Really nice work as always, John. That little patch knife is sweet.

John thank you for posting the work you did for me. Since losing my high speed conn. I have not been able to post on this forum too often. I can't begin too say how happy I am with the work John did for me. Every step of the way he made sure I was happy with what he came up with for me. As you can see the bowie had a stag handle. Which really has nothing to do with early black powder era. He took that handle and matched it to a sheath to give it a natural look yet close enough that it belongs on my side during any hunting/blackpowder event. The neck knife. My wife thinks I'm nuts because when I'm not at work its worn around my neck during the day. The guys at work could not keep thier hands off of either pieces he did for me. I'm very happy I found John on this forum. Next stop John. My mountain man dagger and a belt ax. Jeff

Your welcome Jeff! It's always nice to hear that the person that purchases your work is happy with the results:thumbup:, whether they take them out and use them or put them on display to admire them.I will finish the belt axe prototype when I get home and will email you some pics.Till then, enjoy your knife and sheaths and thanks again!
