Just finished the sheath for this one. It's 9 1/4 inches overall with a 4 1/4 inch blade of W-2 with a wee bit o' filework. The brown underlay is stained 8-ounce leather. As usual, all comments (good and bad) are appreciated.
Made this sheepsfoot necker for a buddy of mine who helped me out. I wanted something to take on the river on our annual float trip. Anyway, it is 6 inches overall with a 2 1/4-inch hollow-ground cutting edge.
Keith - I probably should have taken a pic of the spine, that's a little bit of filework and not sawteeth. That would be a little rough on the ol' thumb.
Both are nice, and of course very contrasting to each other. Good to see you working on your wrapped handles. The tanto has a very different tip profile and I like that. I recall some of Greg Lightfoot's knives having a very heavy angled tip (almost 70-80degrees) which is very interesting.
What steel is the river knife ?
PS.- I love that sheath !! Mind if I "borrow" that design ? Jason.
