Some of the local folks have seen these.

Small hunter: O1 steel with about 400 grit satin finish, stabilized maple burl (from Mike Spangler) handle, copper guard. Folks seem to think it's pretty comfortable.

Simple parer: More of IG's bandsaw steel, vinegar and paper towel patina, camelthorn handle.

Nice! Never heard of camelthorn. More info?

It's a South African acacia with lots of color in it. Oddly enough it's considered a destroy-on-site noxious invasive weed in the US and Europe but the South Africans are worried that it may be getting endangered. Tasmanian Blackwood is another acacia, but this time the South Africans consider it noxious and invasive

I bought the piece I have from the
http://www.giraffebone.com/
at a show. They have it on their website, but now just call it acacia.
