Dennis (der bonemeister) expressed some liking in another thread for the scales on a Moore Maker "sowbelly moose" in tan jigged bone so I figured I'd add a couple of others that might capture his fancy.

I guess they do it, Dennis, to keep up demand for ever newer colors/jigs/textures and keep up their bottom line.

For example, I'm sure that some of GEC's scale offerings are much more popular and in demand than others but by limiting the number produced they can keep the market moving (I guess).

Personally, I'm fairly vanilla in my taste in scale material for the most part but I like that vanilla to be produced with good ingredients. ;)

Nah, I just have crappy images of most of my knives.
I need to redo most of 'em with this camera. Not that they're great or anything but they are better than most of the older ones with the 1.3 mp.

You been holdin' out on us, Elliott. I thought Greg had cornered the market on Cripple Creeks. Nice pics.

My one and only. Picked it up from Bobby Branton a couple of years ago as I recall. Greg's Cripple Creek collection is world class. I'm just happy to have this one nice representative.

elliott wish i had the time to take a photo course at the jr. college so i could take oics like yours. fantastic. dennis

If you look at the bolsters it doesn't look like he's using a tripod. Elliot, what kind of camera?

You guys must be pulling my chain, right? :p You know I'm sensitive! :D

I take all the images out on my deck or porch (depending on where the sun is) and hand hold the camera. (The best lighting is when it's overcast so there's no direct sun to deal with.)

The camera is a Canon PowerShot A590 IS which I got from a credit card promotion to replace my 1.3 megapixel Olympus I'd been using for years and years. (The Canon is 8 megapixel.)

I leave most everything on "auto" settings but make sure I turn off the flash and generally use the "macro" setting unless the image is a bit further/wider.

If I edit the images at all (which is rare beyond cropping and auto adjusting the color), I use a free program I downloaded online called "Irfanview". It's a very small (virus free) download.

I manage the images with software from my image hosting website.

So, thanks for the good words but I only wish I had the patience, inclination and ability of our other members who really know how to compose a good knife image.

Steve, I've never had a problem with shaking the camera in the past but the IS in the Canon name stands for "image stabilization". It's supposed to help in that regard but I can't say I've done much looking into how or why it does.

I got it because I had read good reviews, it takes 2 AA batteries and was a giveaway.

Thanks for the good words!

Nice Moore Maker. The Queen made ones from a few years back are really fine folders. I have a 5 blade Sow Belly in smooth yellow bone and 1095. i've used it quite a bit, great knife.

Is Queen still making the "upscale" line for them still, or is everything old new old stock?
