Got all the handle material that's oversized when going up ground flush with the tang and a couple roughed in. Going to make a large effort this week to have all these roughed in for the weekend to come.
Just curious, you don't tape off your blades while you're working on the handles? I know if I don't, I get all kinds of scratches on the finish. Or do you polish your blades after?
Or else you tape, untape them for pics then retape them. Which would mean you own stock in the tape company.
I was just wondering. Great profiles and good clean work on those knives.
I don't tape them off or anything. I tried that once and it was a mistake. I just simply don't handle the blade tough at all. Don't touch the blade firm. Just hold as much by spine and edge as I can. Don't have a polishing wheel in the shop and etch before the handles are glued on.
Having been there and done that with all that micarta, let me say I don't envy you a bit with that 1/2 mask . Looking great as always, Brian. I'm going to try the batch work and see if I up my production any. I have 5 started right now. I'm just way too slow with the one-at-a-time.
If you ever have some spare change, keep an eye to ebay for something like a Breathe Easy powered system. It takes a short bit to get use to wearing the helmet, but the fresh air over the head and face without the suffocation of the mask is second to none in my book, and you have a full face shield to boot. I got a steal on a brand new system, and I haven't looked back.
