My apologies, my memory wasn't serving me so well, - Trand you are so very right - so I dug it out this morning and the number is exactly right - 735109 and I feel extremely embarrassed at this moment :o, as I don't have too many of these and I now stand corrected, I now don't have a 72 and 73, but two 73's! lol
I am so sorry Mike to interfere with your Thread as I do love the ebony 73 - thinking it was a 72 - so wanted to show it to you, sometimes my enthusiasm with knives gets the better of me and I do this exact thingsorry guys -
I have never been one to understand the serial numbers.

Absolutely no worries Duncan. If that's the worst mistake you ever make, you are doin fine :D

No apology neccessary here Duncan.(adopts condescending tone) Its an easy mistake that Anyone could make .(chortles smugly into back of hand).
So-think you know your GEC72s-73s?

That's a great looking knife, and a great picture

I would also like a drop point version. It's probably a good thing they don't offer one though, I would probably end up broke :D
That's a great looking knife Sam. Yours is actually very close to the color of my Cocobolo, but for some reason yesterday I couldn't get the picture to show the color...

Me too Mike!!

The easiest way to get a pic of the true colour is outdoors when you have a cloudy but not too dark day. That way the light is diffused/neutral.

Sam

I just couldn't stand a for thread of my favorite patterns wither away, so here's some of mine (OK, a 73 is in there too;))

Let's see some more!

The cocobolo is the best apple slicing knife around, and always accompanies my family when we pick apples at the local orchard in the fall (gotta test a few while we're pickin' just to be sure!).
The patina is developing nicely, but I've been in the habit of forcing a patina with most others. The cell phone camera doesn't picket it up very well, but I've finally got a process I'm happy with.

Here's a group shot with a few friends. If I could just find a yellow rose 72 with a lanyard hole.....

Thanks to all for sharing - I'm looking forward to seeing some more!

I have a 72 wharnie and 73 in cocobolo.
It's a bit big for EDC for me, but for work around the farm, it's great.

I love the clip blade profile on those 72's. One of the nicest looking clip blades IMO.

Greg

Yeah, I'd love to get one of the single clip blade 72s, alas I got into traditionals about 5 months too late to grab one. I'll have to keep an eye on the secondary market.

Nice to see some GEC/Stainless ones in this pattern. Tell me, do they lock-up soundly as a Case Copperlock? Never felt ANY play in one of those Case models, in handling around a dozen so far.
