A couple of A-2 belt finish blades

{{{{{{{{DROOL}}}}}}}}

Nice! Kydex pants, firesteel, and orange scales and I'd say you would have a very nice survival knife. With leather and wood you have a very traditional look with modern steel. I would angle the point end of the scales back just a little to improve the looks-- they are a little blocky from the top view. No biggy. The thumb jimping on the spine looks great.

The price is great for a hand-built semi-custom knife. If he wants cheap he could always go with a box of moras or some production stuff. I wonder what the average sale is in a quality bow shop? The knives on hand should fit the wallets of the clientele. If you have guys dropping hundreds on a bow, arrows, sights, packs, quivers, camo gear and all the rest, what's $140 for a nice blade? You can buy a cheap knife at WallyMart --- and that is not why they are shopping in an archery store.

Thanks for your input Dale. I apreciate your honesty:thumbup:. But, what the pics are not showing, is how the scales are very, very, far from blocky. Each side is completly radiused (spelling?) It is hard to show the contours that are felt and seen in person.

I think the black canvas hides what I am speaking of. Of course, anyone who has one of my blades, knows that the handle isn't blocky. But Looking at the pics I do see what you are talking about.

I would post some pics of me using one of them but I wouldn't feel right, using them, and then selling them as new.

Nick:)

Nick,

The knives are nice. With a sheath - it is a good price.

How is this knife different (less expensive) than your normal fare?

TF

The difference is in the blade finish. These have a belt finish. All of my others to date have had a hand rubbed finish which adds aprox 1-1 1/2 hrs per knife. So by leaving that part out, I was able to offer them at a lower price. Other than that, it is the same as any other I make. By doing this I can keep costs down a bit. I am still making my hand rubbed blades I was just wanting to offer something a bit less expensive.

Nick:)

Nick-

Your handles are without a doubt the most comfortable hard material handles I have used to date. Perfectly contoured to fit the hand. $140 is a great price for these. Your knives continue to impress the guys that see and use them here. Hope to get you some pics of them in use from a few folks that have them here. Take care always good to see some new stuff from you. BTW the knives you built for Dad as X-mas gifts are perfect. Thanks again

Mark

I think $140 to be a very reasonable price. That is a great price range for a knife that is intended to be used, and most of the people I know who appreciate custom knives feel the same. The belt finish would be a plus in my mind because I would be less reluctant to use it. The handle shape looks to be comfortable and functional while still remaining stylish. The blade being taller than the handle is another thing I really like about the knife. In my experience it tends to allow more comfort and utility when processing game and doing general tasks. It is a very small thing, and just my personal taste, but I prefer to not have a point in a integral guard (yet for some reason it just seems to fit visually on these knives). All in all, I really like the knife and expect that I would be very happy if I had picked one up for the price you mentioned. :)

I love 'em Excellent design and just the right size..... You are killing my Stash Cash bro... Can you do green micarta for the same $$$ amount ?

Very nice looking blades mate. I like the simple lines and the look of those handles, the thumb grooves (correct term?) look crisp, even and functional.

I would say this knife is in the same park as the Bravo-1. If you're offering these at $140 with a sheath then that's a good $20 cheaper. Between the price and the allure of a custom I can see these going fast indeed.

Wow, thanks for the feedback on these, guys:thumbup:.

If I were going to sell and ship these I would have to add $10.00 for shipping & insurance. But still, that's not too bad.

Tony, I think I can do Olive Micarta for the same $, if not, it would only be a couple of dollars extra, ( like maybe $4.00)

Thanks again
Nick:)

Thanks ,let me get the 3 I have on order paid for and we'll talk .... but you know I will get one ,LOL !

That bocote will match up well with bocote laminated longbows and recurves. I am an expert at stating the obvious. Very nice blades!

Not looking to screw anybody for saying this, but...Nick, I don't see how you can sell them for so cheap. You're probably just breaking even.
Sorry for sticking my nose where it doesn't belong.:o

They look great Nick!!

Always a pleasure to see how your designs and finished knives have progressed since I had you make me one a couple years back. That's still my son's favorite knife of the MANY customs I have. :D

Glad to hear your son still likes that knife Redsnake:thumbup: Shoot me a e-mail if ya need any more:D

Mitch, your pretty close dude, I don't really make much on the knives I sell. I really should charge a lot more but I try hard to make them afordable for everyone. With these, keep in mind, they have a fine belt finish not my hand rubbed finish. So that is what's making the difference here. No need to to opoligize:)

Nick

I love the look of both, but I think for me the BCM edges out the bocote for its simplicity. The handles look to be very comfortable with the thick and round scales. I can't wait to get my piece from you later this year, Nick.
