I have been having a blast with my new Claiborne press! It is awesome to be able to work a large billet down like it was nothing. I had done a few billets up of low layer count damascus by hand and the press makes it much more enjoyable:D This billet finished up at 512 layers. I did part of it a ladder and part a birdseye. Both are already forged out into blades and are waiting on finishing (pics to come). I have two more billets in the works right now that will be finished up this week. Anyhow on to the pics, enjoy. -Burton

Thanks Sam. Now I have to force myself to finish a few blades as all I want to do is forge out damascus billets:) I have a table at this years Ohio Classic knife show in October and have a couple of knives ready but I need to get busy and finish some of the ones I have been forging. Here is a pic of the two blades made from this billet. They are rough ground and quick etched to show the pattern which doesn't show that well in this picture. I will get some better ones one I get some more work done to them.

The pattern is pretty close together and at 512 layers it may be almost a bit too close. It looks nice though and hopefully will show much better once finish ground and heat treated.

Thanks, I consider myself lucky to have such a nice piece of equipment. I luckily had a bit of money saved up and just got a great new job making more money than before when the press came available.
