So,

Somebody posted awhile ago about crafts and stuff we have done.

This is a Catapult I put together one day scouting for hunting... Gene Ward style....

And I have the fixin's to make Concealex, so I finished a sheath for my Mora 2000.

The cat looks fun but I have my reservations about its usefulness beyond plinking. I've got an old Barnett Diabolo somewhere which is pretty good as far as accuracy and power goes, but I got the best results using a cup full of shot to knock birds down rather than using a single projectile, even steel balls. 'Twas fun to watch B Grills knock one up with a bit of stick and some bungee the other week. It ended where I predicted. Fun though.

The sheath looks simple and effective. I don't whittle much wood so none of the Moras I see here have ever had any appeal. That said, for what I do, the Mora pro 5” cooks knife would work well in something like that. It would be a very light package offering up 12C27 @ 58 in a real world useful pattern. I think that would really would put a whole raft of knives to shame. Comes in a loud yellow too for tyros that loose stuff. Yeah, a light sheath like that with a convexed one of those up it...

Do you have a picture of the cup you used on your catapult?

And where can I see the Mora kitchen knives?

Hola Marion

Got a fail on the pic. I remember looking for the cat about a year ago both here and at the other place 'cos someone wanted a pic and I failed. No surprise that it hasn't showed up in the meantime 'cos it's quite a while since I had my hand on it. The cup thing was an off the shelf item in a blister pack with bands already attached. It's a kinda cone that closes leaving a tag at the apex for a finger and thumb pinch grip. I can't recall if it was a Barnett branded thing.

Cool about the pic, I know how that is.... I have heard of people modifying baby bottle nipples to make a cup.

Thanks for the URL. I will definitely check it out.
