here are two photos i just felt like sharing...

of my single blade bear & son peanut in a pose

and a closeup of the match...i see the potential for useing as argument for traditional blades...i would like to see someone do that with a tactical or other thick bladed knife. it sortof makes me sad that most people do not even have the ability to perform the task of fuzzing a stick.

just thought i would share. feel free to use these if any of you are ever compelled to do so.

I tried it with a thicker Benchmade and it wasn't great. My SAK or stockman do much better.

The little peanut is a wonderfull cutter. Zips open the belly of panfish like a well waxed zipper, and whispers through a cardboard box like a razor bladed box cutter. I think the peanut is one of the most under estimated pocket knives outside of a Vic classic.

I've never tried a Bear. Is it carbon steel?

you might say that...

its 440, i don't know if it is A, B or C, but 440 is supposed to be one of the better stainless, "high carbon stainless".

it is a good knife for beating or giving to someone you aren't sure will get into little knives like that. it was $15 at the local hardware store. i actually bought it by accident. i meant to buy a little lockback, but then when i opened up the box, i found a neat little serpentine knife. i decided to keep it. it wasn't until i ended up here a couple of months later that i could identify the pattern.

its funny, the knife went from feeling really small in my hands, like dangerously so, to feeling pretty large and comfortable, since i forced myself to use it to try it out.

really a great little pattern. i would love to get myself a case with the CV steel someday soon.

You owe it to yourself to do so. Last summer I gave my yellow derin CV case to my grandson. After using it for half the summer I missed it so much I bought another one as a keeper. In spite of my love of soddies, the yellow cv case keeps finding its way into my pocket, how I have no idea. Short of ellephant skinning duties, I've found very little it won't cut.
