A couple of quick questions!

I have two random questions for the bladesmith,

First off, i primarily use 1/8th and 1/4" pin stock for my knives - what size drill bits are you using for the holes? I was told to use a bit that's thirty seconds larger then the pin-stock but.... what size is that?? (Not familiar with the imperial sizes!)

Next off, simple question: What is the bluing chemical painted onto a blank before starting to grind? I've heard it a few times but cant remember and cant find it online.
