A couple of recent knives

Here are two knives I recently completed. The first is a custom order 5 inch hunter made of 1084 with differentially heat treated blade. It has a stacked leather handle with nickel silver guard and but cap. There are about forty pieces of material in the handle all hand fitted to the tang. I don't want to do another for a while.

The second knife is a utility knife I made for my son as a gift for his graduation from Georgia Tech. It has a linen micarta handle a 5 inch blade of CPM S30V and a wrap strap sheath. I did a little scrimshaw on the handle to help remind him where he spent 5 years and a ton of money.

Harry,
I love that stacked leather handle. It's very classy and at the same time looks comfortable and useful. Great job!

both are top shelf knives!

Great job on both knives. That scrimshaw made me laugh when I saw it after you stated where your son went to school. I am sure it will mean that much more to him.

Great looking pair of knives.

I'm sure your son will like the scrimshaw, and congrats to him for making it through school.

Take care

Charles

Thanks for the comments! I like leather washer handles for their utility and looks, but they are not much fun to make and take way too much time for what you can sell it for. I'm glad we don't get much call for them. All that being said I kind of wish the customer had canceled the order. I collect 5 inch hunters and don't have one by Twin Blades. :D

The scrimshaw for my son's knife is the second I've done and it wasn't any easier than the first one. The first was also for my son and a yellow jacket. It was stolen from him a couple of years ago. Doing one of these really makes you appreciate the fantastic scrimshaw work that others do, like Sandra Brady.

Very nice work, still looking forward to getting by you shop soon. Will be heading out that way pretty soon.
