hey all, wanted to tell ya'll bout the experience i had bout a week ago. I live in cabot arkansas and am stationed at littlerock air force base,so im not too far from the abs school. I was on my way to dallas over the halloween weekend and decided to show my family old washington and the schoolhouse.
Well, when we pull up to the schoolhuse lo and behold dickie robinson is working inside with a class. Dickie was one of the instructors who taught my class,so i decided to go say hello. Not only did he remember me,he shook my hand as an equal, real nice guy. Also he told my that Mace Vitale was inside working on a damascus piece.I had read alot of mace's posts and seen his work but never actually met him,but was eager to do so. I talked with him for a few mnutes as i didn't want to take up all his time. We did talk about the steel he had with him and the great price he was selling the 1084 for. I said i didn't have the money necessary for all five bars even though it was such a great price. So Mace, without skipping a beat told me to take the bars and send him a check when i got the funds for it! I had never met him before and Mace doesn't know me from Adam! Well needless to say i was floored. I had pretty much given up on most folks as far as trust is concerned, but it seems to me knifemakers are cut from a different cloth. This forum is a great thing and so are the folks who post on it.I look forward to someday being able to help out a beginning knifemaker the way dDickie and Mace have for me.

Agreed, I haven't dealt with Mace much, but he's definatly stand up. With most members of the knife comunity your word is your bond, sure wish the rest of the world was the same.
