Hey folks,

Just a couple of questions on the UK Pen Knife before I send mine in.

1. When closed is the blade of the one(s) you have kind of close to being out of the scale if not level with the handle? Mine is so close to the handle that I can catch my finger on the tip of the blade.

2. One of my UK Pen Knives snaps shut about the last inch give or take. I just recently got another one and it will not close itself the last 3/4" or so. It seems as it has a weak backspring. And yes...I've adjusted the pivot and the only way it will shut on it's own is if I loosen the pivot enough to the point of horizontal blade play.

I am not concerned as 99% of what I get from Spyderco is perfect in all ways.

What say you fiends? :D

I already contacted Spyderco and I will most likely send it in unless I hear something else on this forum letting me know I shouldn't send it in.

Thanks,
David :)

David, I'd say send it in. The point standing proud (sitting above the handle when closed) is easy to fix, a few minutes with some sandpaper or a sharpening stone on the blade kick will take care of that. Lack of closing snap is something else altogether. It could be a burr on the spring or blade tang, or on the pivot pin or in the pivot hole. Why void the warranty taking it apart yourself? Spyderco will make it right.

Spyderco will fix it, no problem. But I don't think taking the knife apart will void the warranty. That's a BM thing.

I'm gonna send 'er in. They always do a good job, I just wanted to see if anyone else had this issue. I've owned 3 UKPK's and not had this issue before but I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks everyone.
