Just finished these two up, nothing fancy, just nice users. The steel on both is 80crv2 at 60rc. The tangs are thinly tapered and I gave them bright liners for a splash of color.
Both sheaths are hand stitched, the horizontal one I used kevlar thread just for the heck of it. : )

As always, any and all comments welcome. Thanks for looking!!

At first glance, these knives look really nice. Then, the more one looks the more one sees.

Really nice Ben

From the tapered tang to the quality functional sheath

Really like the 2nd one

Great package

To the experienced craftsman these might seem like "nothing fancy", however to me, the inexperienced newbie, these look like perfection! I pour over photos like these, dissecting the nuances that i need to work on. I love the blue liners, Bravo!

Don't know about Nothing Fancy. The post right above you is from Bob Dozier who knows a thing or two about knives.....

Also...I like em. But I still see myself as a relative newcomer.

Really nice knives, Ben. I'm really liking 80crv2. How did you do the forced patina and what is your experience with durability and maintenance of the finish?

Thanks everyone! This is one of my first designs, its fun to mix it up with different materials and grinds.

Thanks Joe. Your preaching on the horizontal sheath inspired me on that one.

Thanks Ben. I actually use different types of cold blue on my carbon steel blades, on these I used caswell black. Its not DLC or ceracoat, so it will show wear. The nice thing is it is easily touched up or refinished if desired.

Pretty sure Dozier isn't Bob Dozier, unless Bob picked up and moved to Louisiana without anyone knowing...

Nonetheless, it doesn't take an expert eye to distinguish that these are a class design. Awesome stuff, as usual, Ben.

You're right. My bad. Sorry for the mixup.

Matt is correct, I'm not Bob.
I've met him a couple of times at the NYC knife show years ago, and he is originally from Louisiana too.
He can tell stories with the best of them.
My Best,

They may be "simple", but they are simply beautiful pieces, well executed.
Good job.
That 1st one would find a willing home in Africa.:D
