A.D.D. Comes to Trackrock

Sorry I missed you at Blade. I'm pretty bad at staying at my table after the first couple hours. Usually can be found in the smoking lounge next to the dumpster out back. I know what you mean about water snakes though. Had one crawl in my boat while I was fishing and the damned thing just wouldn't stop coming at me. Nasty little bugger.

We had a small snake (non venomous) fall from a bush into the boat while fishing crappie in the Achalafaya Basin once. My grandad (big guy, WWII vet) jumped out of the boat without hesitation. My dad and I laughed our asses off.

The normal consensus among herpetologist (snake people) is that if you handle a water snake more than 5 min. you are 99% likely to get bit.....if you can hold onto one that long. This has pretty much been my experience over the years, so I quit messing with the wet ones. Exception, Cottonmouths, they are actually first cousin to the copperhead and as a whole have pretty much the same temperment, just show off a bit more when cornered or excited.
Seen the abandon ship syndrome many times. My favorite was two old drunks in a plywood J-boat fishing on the Little Salkahatchee. A rather large Queen Natrix (big black watersnake) dropped into their boat. After failing to hit or extract with a paddle, one of them pulled a pistol and put six holes in the bottom of the boat which commenced to sink. Luckily it's a shallow river so they were standing up when it settled to the bottom, but all their gear headed toward the coast. The snake, untouched, swam back to the bank and crawled out on a limb to watch. I offered to help them retrieve their gear even though I was on foot, but they declined. Guess I was just as scary in my ghelly suit and longbow (deer hunting).
Indelible memory.
WIP is looking good Adam. Bringing it to the Guild meeting next month?

I agree with Carl on the WIP. Very good start.

To the unititiated, meaning me, there is no fundamental difference between a cottonmouth and a black water snake, none I'm able to discern while I'm peeing my pants anyway. :D

I'm with Jerry. Busy shitting my pants, no idea what is attacking me.
