hey everybody. I just finish looking through most of the pages and had a stupid Question. All of the threads on suvival are about disaters, such as a plane crash or getting lost. what about if you are being chased, Or hunted?
Instead of trying to draw as much attention to you as possible, trying to stay hidden

Just a thought :D

I would grab the Frost survival, FAK, SAK Tinker, various other blades, my BOB with food, etc and haul ass. I am a pretty avid hunter myself, I think I could lose ya in the woods. Throw out some doe urine and it will, allegedly, even keep dogs confused for a little bit...

If I am being hunted, I think I would have to go in the no holds barred style shown by Mr. John Rambo. If I had to pick between me and you winning a life and death battle, I pick me.

There were quite a few thins like that written about 2 yrs ago. You can either use search or , if that's not available to you , you can start a thread about how you'd do it and watch it grow with both good and bad info.

Search on S.E.R.E. SERE or FLIR many applicable threads/internet posts will contain those terms.

Like swimming, pure time spent in the woods will amplify you ability to "get lost" . Comfort level must be high to relax and get in tune.

there was alot of discussion on this...maybe a month ago? its in a thread titled "unconventional/low visibility shelter" probably several pages back.

This is one senario that Man v Wild tactics might apply , move fast and hard to seperate from the threat .

I seem to recall that some evaders would drop blood meal fertilizer laced with cocaine on their back trail. Tracker dogs would come up and get excited over the blood, sniff it, and then get 'high' on the cocaine. Blood meal is available at nursery shops.

I also recall that French resistance fighters used a variant by lacing raw ground meat with cocaine. The tracker dog would come upon the meatball and eat it, again ingesting cocaine.

Cocaine is readily available in the USA. Kids in school know where to get it.

Dogs suffer just as much as humans in hot weather, cold weather, rain, snow, sleet. They too need rest. These distractions decrease their tracking efficiency.

If you really want to screw up tracker dogs, shoot the handler.

this is the survival situation i think i plan for the most due to the political deterioration of the U.S..

three good books that i have and read numerous times include:

"Wilderness Evation", by Michael Chesbro, Palidan Press, 1-303-443-7250

"Into the Primitive", Dale Martin, Palidan Press, same phone #

"Survival Poaching", Ragnar Benson, Palidin Press, same #

I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT advocate poaching in any form during normal times and have even turned in poachers. However it is a good book on how to get game and fish in bad times to feed you and or your family in dire situations.

I am concerned about the issue you are posting about, mainly in fear of an Obama presidency. i think that the sovreignty of the nation will be placed under the controls of the UN. The UN would like to pick the US clean of money and remove our firearms as the means with which to do this. I will not be giving up my rights.

great topic! --- Eric

If you know that a dog will track you, there are tricks to confuse him like crossing your own path several times to make the dog basically run in circles.

Don't know if it works in real life... might be just theory.

You mean trick the trackers into thinking you're in the woods when really you're at a local hotel? Great idea.:D

Welcome aboard, Lonewolf!

A lot of SERE, if you are well-armed, involves counter-tracking measures, and more often than not, ambushes and attacks on your part to slow down your pursuers. Just running usually will get you exhausted and caught. There is so much to this subject and so many varieties of situations you may find yourself in. It involves way way more than equipment -- it's serious training to be effective at this.

Many tricks seen in movies do not work, like walking backwards or going through water. A professional tracker will be able to tell instantly when you're doing these things, and with reagrd to water, its easy to spot the entry point and the exit point into and from the water.

These are just a couple things that come to mind off the top of my head, but there is much much more to it all.

Or, you could hunt the hunter.

Well said Brian.

I believe you are at an advantage to be the hunted b/c of the multiple evasive measures that can be taken. Sometimes the obvious is the best route. The hunter will be looking for your route of evasion, and sometimes overlook the obvious.

Blending in to your surroundings, taking things from the landscape to camoflage yourself
is always smart. Traps are something to be proficent in, not only to maim, but to give a general idea of how far the persuer is to ya, and to give away his location.

Personally, I'm watching First Blood tonight, since that's about the only circumstance where I can see someone being "hunted" in the wilderness here in the U.S.
That being said, the only way out seems to be to join Special Forces, become a troubled combat veteran, and learn to hide in the mud and moss so I can kill the "hunters" with a big ass knife. Or is "deanimate" a more appropriate term here?

has anybody read Advanced Fugitive?

nobody? anyway I like the Idea of ambushes and counter attacks,

Anymore Ideas ???

How many people here feel confident enough that they could survive in the woods with only a knife ?
