A different way to finish s30v?

I was handrubbing an s30v hunter last night and after the usual frustration I have with finishing this stuff I decided to try something different. I wrapped a piece of maroon scotchbrite (very fine) around the 2" spindle on my oscillating spindle sander and fastened with ty-wraps. I made a few passes on each side of a blade that was previously finished to 600 grit (with Bruce Evans palm sander method). I was amazed with the result. The oscillating sander gave it varying yet even "scratches" like it had been precision ground (not straight full lines like a normal handrub). It even went cleanly into the plunges without rounding them off.

I need to find a better way to fasten the pads because it flew apart just as I finished the second side.

Does anyone else do this or something similar? Does anyone know of a supplier that has scotchbrite spindle sander tubes?

Thanks, Brad M

I'll try to post pics today. My camera is a P.O.S. and won't show much. I'll get my neighbor to photograph it when he's home tonight.

I use scotchbrite belts on some of my O1, start maroon, then gray, then blue. Gives a nice smooth finish. They're expensive ($15 each or so) but they seem to last quite awhile. I'd like to see some pics also.

I've got pics to post but I am new to this forum and need to figure out how to do it. If it takes more than 2 more Coronas to figure it out I'll leave it till tomorrow.:D
