So I haven't had any desire to acquire after my Phillip Patton EDC bowie arrived. It feels weird.

I have a lefty DDR AOD on order which I will keep but I also have a Dominator 5.5" that will be sold once it gets done. Then there's all the stuff that Reese Weiland has for me... Much of that will probably be sold too. Getting into traditional knives was the best thing I could do for myself (as it pertains to collecting).

I've found contentment in most of my equipment based interests. My curiosity hasn't died. I still try new things and consider them but generally circle back to the same things.

My thinking... I think gear meets different needs for different people. For some, gear is more about self worth as defined by where they fit. Most "what is the best..." threads about most gear in most forums is rooted in this need.

For others, self-worth is more rooted in their doing and since the doing is so different, they tend to return to highly personal tried and true solutions to their own, highly personal mix of doing.

For yet others, self-worth is a mixture of these two.

Perhaps you're moving more into self-worth formed by your doing and less on what others tell you?

All I can say to that is you aren't alone and it's OK.

What joel said.
You'll be contented again in less than a month, my good man.

I think this will give me more opportunity for "service" ... Giving back to the (knife) community instead of focusing on my own gratification.

That dominator's going to be a big beast. I don't think a bonafied knife nut will ever be happy. There are just toooo! many nice blades out there to be had. Hum! maybe satisfied for a while I suppose but you go through knives like most people go through socks. :D A lefty huh, I see a fixed blade on the right and a lefty folder in the pocket on the left, both sides covered.

This won't last long, I wager in a few weeks or less you'll be back on the prowl.

When that itch comes around again...you'll hafta scratch it.
...been down that road a few times.
Nice of you to make/give to others; lots of satisfaction in that.

These are my not-EDC knives... They are strategically placed throughout the house.
