A dilemma.

Stick with spyderco and benchmade. By one according to the size of blade and handle as well as pocketability as that will be important. Generally the axis lock on benchmades are the smoothese opening but spyderco have the best ergos in that they have a knife and handle size combination that will fit someone out there perfect.

Personally I need to have at least one of each in the 60 to 100 range.

Don't forget to spend like 30 on a sharpening kit like a lansky 4 rod crox set...

Importantly. I got a new job in tech so i would like a more office friendly knife (well its not a definite but i made very good impressions with the supervisor this morning and im feeling really good esp since they need to can someone and need someone asap, great opportunity for me lots of advancement chances). Any good full size knives that carry discreetly?

Oh and incase anyone knows its not against company policy to carry but they ask if you use it seldomly and not have it be obvious and noticeable.

I'd suggest the Griptilian, you can email Benchmade and they will send you a deep carry clip for it. Make sure to ask for the black clip, and it will blend right in with dress pants at work.

AG Russell gentlemen's framelock! Sypderco centofante, crkt tribute is awesome but low rent. Any traditional. I carry a peanut and a leatherman Micra iny bag...if you like the flash the Kershaw od2 is a neater version with no bladeplay.

There's pimp geeky stuff too like spyderco Gayle Bradleys with carbon fiber scales or the sage 1 or 2 in carbon fiber or titanium relatively...

whats pimp geeky stuff lol?

Google the AG Russell gentlemen's framelock spyderco sage 1 and 2 a d Gayle Bradley. The handle materials are ultralight and a bit elite. Carbon fiber and titanium it makes the knives extra light weight! Some of the knife nuts are basically ocd. If a knife is 2 ounces more than what they are willing to have in their pocket than a knife is no bueno. Lmao. I kid you not. I'm personally ocd about stuff like that as well more than I admit. I bought my brother a k I've as a gift innocently and that turned into going through 15 or so k Ives in the roughly under 100 price range. After all that I ended up keeping a minigrip, delica, mini presidio, trapper tradtional ,sodbuster, opinel and a peanut. I might have more lying around somewhere buy these are the ones that I keep in a drawer and are my favorites. I would love to get a Bradley alias 2 or sebenza next but they cost more and I have no use normally for those designs. I just want them becsuse they're cool. Lol. The sodbuster is awesome BTW...but then again so are the other ones ppl mentioned. Its one viscious cycle and knife obsession like collecting baseball cards...

For a small non-threatening office carry knife but still a great knife with a good steel at a $60 to $70 price point I would look at a Spyderco Delica..they come in various non-threatening colors.

If you want to go a bit bigger a standard production(not a Sprint Run)Spyderco ParaMilitary 2 is a excellent knife for around $110 to $130 depending on which model you get..they are relatively easy to sale if you don't like it.

Be careful buying on Ebay because of all the fake Para2's that are out there.

Depends on the office , besides he already has the Flash II which has a deep pocket clip
He needs a weekend knife lmao

Spyderco calypso (caly) 3 or 3.5
Spyderco UKPK if you want a slip joint you can open or close with 1 hand

Spyderco Salt1

The ukpk is awesome I had one and wish I didn't trade it! If you get a spyderco get a ffg blade do a search on the forum for it. As the blade shape sharpens better.

PS if you look at how the clip is positioned on the knife you can tell if it is a deep carry knife. In some cases you can buy an aftermarket deep carry clip. I'll post up a pic later unless someone else can do it. O have to run out for a bit.

Here's a Delica it sticks out a bit but you can buy an deep carry clip for it.

The Benchmades sit in a little deeper for the most part

Just buy a Strider or a Sebenza and be done with it. :)

agreed. it took me a few levels of knives to finally bite the bullet and get an SnG and an Umnumzaan. I LOVE my paramilitary twos, and still carry them, but when i held a CRK i knew what quality feels like. (not that spydercos aren't quality, you know what i mean)

I switch between a old gerber ez out a cold steel ti lite and a sog flash 2.

I dont even know where i would begin to look for a more expensive knife, i mean kinfecenter bladehq places like that of course but i mean i dont know what i would get. I live in Camden county new jersey. Not a knife shop around really the army navy stores all stock cheap Chinese no name or mtech stuff.

Check out a gun shop, they tend to carry knives at least around here they do. Also REI carries Benchmade.

If you like the Flash 2 try a Griptilian. I'll offend some people (both SOG and Benchmade) fans for saying this, but the Grip is what the Flash 2 wants to be when it grows up. No, it's not assisted but it doesn't need to be, it carries about the same, the lock action is similar, but the difference in feel is noticeable - like trading in your Ford Taurus for a BMW 3-series. I have both - actually it was the receipt of a Flash 2 from a friend as a replacement for a lost CRKT that set me down this path. The Flash 2 was actually a step up from my old knife but just wasn't "me" - camo scales, black half-serrated blade, just too tacticool. But I liked the way it felt and the action of it, so I gravitated toward Benchmade for a new permanent EDC based on looking at stuff online. Then I went to the gun shop and handled a few... Fast forward a few weeks and there's a Grip in my pocket, and I'm pretty happy with it. Needs a good sharpening, and I think I will get some nicer scales for it to make it a little classier looking, but the fundamental feel of it is very quality.

Of course, you have to find what is right for you and there have been several other suggestions made in this thread that are worth trying.

Sadly, as others have pointed out, there are levels, and while a Grip or even a Flash 2 is several levels above many knives on the market, there's levels the other way as well... perhaps best not to pick up an Emerson, CRK, etc... (I know many think of Emerson as overpriced, but I have to admit of all the knives I have handled recently the one I liked the best was an Emerson. I just didn't like the price.)

For office carry, I'd recommend a Benchmade 940 series: Slim profile with perfect length S30V steel blade.

ESEE Zancudo?

Cheap, not very threatening (smaller, not very tactical, good handle/blade ratio), useful and (from what I can tell, don't own one yet) well liked.

No one is opposed to learning but blurting it out like that isn't the best way. A visitor message doesn't give the impression you're talking down to him. BTW, check it out, I edited the spelling so your comment was really unnecessary.

Hey, thanks! I'll do that next time.

Just get a Kershaw ZT0350 in blaze orange scale for $145.00, and you'll have all the folder you'll ever need for a lifetime.
