@ 22-rimfire: Yes, youre right. Tannins also might colour waters. This is not an area for paper mills (it's mainly Lucca area - Tuscany Region) but, luckily, with today environmental standards , water pollution is not a big problem any longer at least here
. Was quite bad when I was a kid, until late 70ies, early 80ies. My river, the Adda river, where Leonardo Da Vinci was testing the first reaction ferry and where I was spending lots of afternoons after school
, was turning colour every week in those days; fishes were dying in flocks and huge white foams were forming every second day. Today the area its a Regional Park where people bike, hike, fish, practice canoeing and rowing :thumbup:.
