everything has been put into perspective since today. why? because today i thought i was going to die. i was going down the highway and my eye started to hurt(yes i wear contacts). then it shut and i could not open it or see. when it did get open, the streetlight turned red. i slammed on my brakes at 60 miles and hour and nearly t-boned another car. i was somehow able to make my car do au-turn adn miss hitting anyone. the smell of burnt rubber was surrounding me. and i nearly rolled my car. im still jittery after 8 hours. and im scared that i broke the law somehow and im gonna have a cop at my door tomorrw and get arrested. but yeah. im huess this is here in survival cause 2 reasons, ya'll seem like good people and actually care,a dn two, my survival tip is this...keep a calm head. if you freak out then you are bound to get hurt or wose, killed. this applies to all situations, if you hiking and you fall, get pulled under water, are approaching a deadly animal...kep a calm head. be safe out there everyone and God bless you all.

p.s. if this is the wrong forum sorry:rolleyes:

Glad your OK, thats scary stuff. I don't think you have to worry about the law though, no property damage and more importantly no one got hurt! Count you blessings and get some eyeglasses, instead of those contacts.

wow.. glad to hear your all good man... that's some scary stuff... i almost got plowed by a suburban a few years ago... it didn't see my car pulling out of the parking lot...:( definately a reality check...

I agree with Tony. Screw the contacts. Wear glasses.

I'm glad you survived all right. I bet the air smells a little better, the day a little brighter, ....................

well i got glasses, i am wearing them right now. but the problem is, my eyes are very sensitive to light(i have blue eyes adn all blue eyes in my family are very sensitive) that and my glasses ar eth wrong perscription. but yes. everything is better now. i am grateful God saved me. i dont think it was in His books the time for me to go yet. and even though i know i am not in any trouble witht the law, i am still scared s***less. sorta like when your young and you knwo there is no boogie man, but you still check every night and get scared when you wake up.

glad to hear you are o.k.. I guess its part of driving a car... I ride a sportbike most of the time so for me its more of a commong thing to have a close call... But no matter what you always remember the close ones.... Dont dwell on it too much...

I also have light-sensitive, beautiful  blue eyes. My answer was to get some Rx Polarized glasses. They work beautifully and come in handy around the water - fishing, canoeing, etc. And get the right Rx.

I almost put my eye out one time with a paint ball gun, and almost fell off a high building. These moments really make you feel alive, eh?
With the paintball gun I actually thought my eyeball had popped, that the paint was eyeball ooze. Another 1/2 inch and it would have been.

I wear soft contacts, extended wear, and see better than I ever do with glasses. But I wore hard contacts for over ten years, and know what it's like to have the contact freak out. You have to maintain a sense of awareness of what's going on around you, slow down, and try to get to the side of the road as quickly as you safely can. I won't give up on my contacts. I love being able to see with such a simple tool. And I love being able to wear real shades.

Glad that you are okay. Traffic is just scary sometimes.

Glad your doing good...that is a bad situation...Reality checks are Good but that was a close one..take care Tony

Car accidents are a leading cause of fatality in the US. Many people spend a lot of time worrying about things like violent crime or plane crashes but don't think twice about getting in their car. I have lost family members and friends to car accidents that could have been avoided. For people interested in survival, traffic safety is an important topic. Slow down and live.

Hear hear for soft contacts. I wore coke bottle lense eyeglasses until my juniour year in high school. Then switched to hard contacts. Hallelujah! Eyeglasses that no one can see through don't do much for your social life.

As technology improved I moved on the extended wear lenses. Better, but in a dry dusty climate it was far from perfect. Oddly enough, it was the aging process that finally freed me. Cataract surgery entails replacing the crystalline lens of your eye. Since they are replacing the lens anyway, they go ahead and correct the prescription while they are at it. The result is almost complete visual freedom. One of the few benefits of advancing age other than retirement.

Glad you're OK crbauhs. I'd go with extended wear lenses at the very least. Good luck!

crbauhs, I know the feeling. I got T-boned by a car that ran a red light going 45mph and it spun and rolled my truck (it was January and the passenger in the other car had reached over and activated the wiper fluid:eek:). The first feeling I had after the truck quit spinning was, "boy am I in trouble now!" Glad to hear you're ok. I'm hoping to have time enough to get the Lasik surgery some time in the near future.

Your incident reminds me of a couple of times when I popped my ears while driving and had very bad vertigo. Luckily, not too long, but always a little scary.

One last tip I learned the hard way. Don't neglect to clear snow off of your cars/trucks roof. I had the whole sheet (in one icy package) come down on my windshield while doing 75mph on I-95 in heavy traffic, in a gentle curve. I was flying blind for several seconds until my windshield wipers finally coaxed the dang thing off. The curve may just have saved the day, since I don't think the wipers could have done it on their own...

Regards,

Dave
