A few BK17 Mods

I decided to do some minor mods to the BK17 today. I etched the logos deeper on both sides of the blade, then blued them. After bluing, I stripped the finish which came off surprisingly easy. Then I did some minor stippling on the grivory. I like clean lines and a simple blade. What do you guys think?

looks great....I swear that some Beckers look stonewashed under the coating. My FPR 16 looked stonewashed too.

I like the etching/blueing of the logo idea! may borrow that one sometime

How do you do the etch? Tying to picture it based on the sticker method, but its not computing...

All you do is etch it without stripping it, at least that's what I would think...

I use to do it on ESEE blades alot. Its very simple. Tape off arround the laser etching and apply the etching solution with a syringe. The etching solution will only work on the raw metal so the taping doesn't have to be precise. Let it set for an hour or so and then clean it off. Then apply the bluing. After bluing you can then strip the finish. The stripper won't removing the bluing.

Well that did it for me. I'm ordering one from Moose right now. Hell of a job on those handles.

Damn dude, I'd pay you to etch the logo on my knives. Very well done.

BTW, how long did you leave the etching solution on for?

I left the etching on for an hour. Next time I'll do an hour on two different occassions. The Ka-bar steel resists the etching more then the ESEE knives I've done in the past.

Yeah, that cro-van really helps over regular 1095.

Looks sweet UC! You might have just sold me on the 17.

The 17 is going to be the sleeper that everyone winds up wanting and then getting.
