Here are a few pics from the trip (to hold you over until I start pulling pics of the digital video camera (which we used a lot):

A wonderful picture of TBs inventory of SN1s.

A new handle design (copied off of a tourist khukuri, pictured). TB is doing up about 3 of these in a 16 inch AK to test out. Satisfaction will result in a new regular item!

Lalit and Marya at the airport on the way to Dharan.

These are what tourist khukuris look like (in case you've never seen one). The only one that even comes close is the wooden handled one in the pile (and I picked that one up and decided that I wouldn't trust it on a stick of celery).

Craig,

Pic #1 - Id' love to have one of these in poster size. It would look great hanging in my knife/gun/computer room (whenever I get it finished). People could look at it for a million years and never figure out what it is.

Pic #2 - Wow, that handle looks sooooo comfortable. I see the tips of the butt-cap have been slightly rounded too. I think I'd still grind down the center ring until it's flush, but otherwise, perfect.

Pic #3 - Lalit looks just like his picture on your web-site. Don't know why that should surprise me. So, that's Marya. Finally a face to match the voice. Craig you ol' dawg. No wonder you sound so cheerful all the time.

Pic #4 - Guess that just goes to show you should never judge a book, or a Khukuri, by its cover

Blackdog: I think I'll offer that khukuri as a photo if I can ever get a large one printed. As for the handle - YES! Even the tourist khukuri (that's what's in the picture) was SUPER comfortable. It was the answer to your "buttcap" problem. As for Marya - well, what can I say? I knew her when she was 14! And what I hope you can see in Lalit is that he is the most jovial person I've ever met. A real great guy to be around.

Great pix! I especially like the photo of the SN1s -- it's impressive to see that many khuks bunched together.

Try actually being in the room! I was like a kid in a candy store. There were so many "one-of-a-kind" items that I swooped up - I made a "Craig's pile" for TB to include in the next shipment, which, due to some complications, will leave a few days later than expected (probably will leave on the 23rd).

PS: In an effort to raise the bar on the quality of our khukuris, we are now paying more for our khukuris and demanding nothing but the creme of the crop. Mind you, it's only a couple of dollars extra each, but even one dollar an extra per day will make the quality control guy a nice extra bonus!

Just taking a tour back into time and came across this thread. This one deserves to go back to the top for those who missed it the first time around.

Craig, think you'll ever get the top pic done in poster size? I still have a place for it in the "war room".

Yeah Blackdog, I thought the same thing when I first saw that first pic. Notice what seems like crud on chhapri (buttcaps)...it looks like TB's writing when he accepted khukuris as good in the Gurkha Steel video, doesn't it?

Blackdog: I only wish I'd had the digital camera I have now! Then, I could have done a poster size. But alas, my digital camera of old was not good enough! We'll have to do with postcards

Guys, I'm going to ask something weird. Craig spoke of the tourist khuks he saw during his trip (what price did they go for, Craig?). Please, is there someone who can post a clear, full length pic of a genuine tourist khuk of about 16 or 17 inches overall length, out of its sheath? I hear so much talk of the despicable tourist khuks that you can't even cut celery stalks with. I read that many tourist khuks have the Lion of Ashoka buttcap. I'd really like to see what a typical full-size one looks like. This is necessary for my education. I just gotta see some of the baddies to better appreciate the good 'uns! Please help!
