Do you mind if I ask what kind of saw blades you use for the knives ?

They are the large sawmill blades about a 52 inch diameter and a little more than 3/16ths thick. They are generally believed to be L6 steel but without an analysis that is not for sure so I only refer to it as saw steel. I have made many knives from them and have always had satisfactory results. Saw steel is not my sole source of knife steel. I use a variety of steels, 1080, O-1, 440C Etc.

Those are very nice & should be popular.
If I didn't have so many fixed blades now, I'd grab one.

Nice piece that fits the hand well. Wide thin blade that cuts very well. Mine has a clay treated blade that is hard to see in a picture. The hamon is there.
Bob does good leather work and the sheath is a top quality piece that really fits perfect.
Good deer knife, or a caper on large elk or moose.

If you don't mind me asking, what are you using to get the shape of the knife in the leather sheaths.

Best to you and yours,

Jim

A wooden spoon:D, first I make the sheath as usual, after its finished, dyed and dried. I re-wet the inside, insert the knife and work the leather from the outside with a wooden spoon. Just have to put it back before she knows its missing:p
